Thank you kindly, sir, but don’t be to quick to extend your compliments. I’m still in the process of formulating my response to your post!

I mean “bras”?? What kinda pet peeve is that? If you find them uncomfortable, just don’t wear one!

((Note to self: Add “men who wear bras” to list of pet peeves.))

I just find them unnecessary. Certainly not a knock on women hood, but rather a nuisance for them. If they’re so great, why does every woman I know shed them as soon as they walk in the door of their home? But alas, if my fat *** don’t get back in shape, I may need one myself.[emoji2369][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

          Unnecessary? Oh, they’re quite necessary.

For example, at my age, when I take mine off at the end of the day, my skin gets all bunched up at the knees. In other words, if I didn’t’t wear a bra during the day, I’d be walking around with a pair of “Granny Knees.”

I am neither grumpy (except when my husband enters the room i’m in—talking—without ever bothering to notice that I’m otherwise focused) nor old (millions of dollars in R&D, hundreds of highly trained specialists, and one very supportive husband have seen to that) and yet I, too, am baffled by those who look upon common courtesies and social graces as a “waste of time” or a nuisance.

I won’t go so far as to say a response like “no problem” is rude. I will, however, say that it’s ill mannered. Why? Because it’s dismissive. And nobody appreciates being dismissed. But even more disappointing than your misguided view of mannerliness is the lack of civility you demonstrate in your final statement. When you lowered yourself to epithets (I.e., grumpy old fart), you not only showed a lack of ability to construct a cogent argument, you demeaned the dignity and the spirit of “bon homme” for which this forum is known.

I’m reminded of the stories of the Philistines…from the Bible. They weren’t necessarily an evil people, but they were filthy, slovenly, faithless, and uncouth (according to the Bible). They ate to excess, drank to excess, became lazy and unproductive. History tells us that, ultimately, they disappeared from the historical record. The lesson here is that for a culture or civilization to thrive, it must evolve. A civilization that DEvolves—or moves backward—dies out. In other words a civilization must value and embrace civility in order to survive.

Today, it seems that common courtesy and social graces are no longer taught in the home the way they were when I was growing up. And it shows.

PS to all: My list of pet peeves will be posted as soon as I cull it down enough so that it no longer exceeds the maximum allowable character count for replies within a thread.
You said that very well young lady. Social graces and manners start at a young age.

My goodness. I thought a lot of these were just me.
Bad table manners, inconsiderate drivers, people playing the scratch offs in line, unclean restrooms, trashy people, mooches, liars, habitually late people, people who think they’re more important than another, modern “country” music, Democrats as a group, and the list grows daily.

Starting a sentence with "I mean". Say what you need to and I will infer what you mean. If not I will ask.

Overuse of the word "like" when speaking. Is it a dog, or is it "like" a dog? Coyotes are "like" a dog, but they are not.

People that barely know me who continually ask, "Where's my deer sausage"? My new reply is "It costs me about $200 a pound after paying for my land, truck, feeders, corn, weapons, gas, processing, etc. I'll be glad to get you as much as you want at that rate with absolutely no mark up for my time and effort."

Grouchy old men posting on hunting forums is the worst. I can’t stand grouchy old men. I can’t stand to even look at them that’s why I avoid mirrors.
