Default Kayak Fishing Advice Wanted

Evening y’all:

I wanted to see if anyone on here fishes out of a kayak in the Rockport area? Really want to get on the water but a boat is out of my price range for a bit, so looking to see if y’all have had any luck fishing out of kayaks in that area as those are my primary waters.

Launch out of Cove Harbor. Cross the intercoastal and get outside of Traylor Island. You can fish the whole way down the outside of the island. Lots of people there in boats, wading, and on kayaks fishing for trout early in
the morning. Come through one of the cuts and get on the flats and then you can drift forever. Use soft plastics, popping cork, gulp, etc. for reds and trout.

I really appreciate it, do you find your access to fishing spots limited because of the open bays around rockport?

Google - kayak and wade fishing access points in Texas. A map of about a thousand will come up. It has a lot of spots around Rockport.

OP,

Before pulling the trigger on a yak, try and get to a demo day. You can also find places to rent and try.

I've got an Ascend and it does ok when I'm by myself. But, if I go with someone else, I discover how slow it is. Its like paddling a 55 gallon drum.
