Awesome find. I wish I knew where to look for some around here.

          Well, that's what I figured;/

It seems a lot of guys on TBH are knowledgeable on arrowheads. How do you know that one is over 3000 years old? Is it the rock material, the shape of the arrowhead, the flakes, what dictates age?

To me it looks like it was just knapped. A good looking arrowhead.

          Congrats on the find.

Had my best luck on the hillsides---northern exposure. Look in the gullies and washouts, and be alert when you start finding lots of flakes on the surface---

Post pics of it cleaned up and the other side of you get time. There are several varieties of triangle down there that range from 1000 years old to 10000 years old. My guess on that one is 3 too 4 thousand but need better pics as it could go either way.

99% sure it is a Tortugas which is about 3000 year old.

Nice find, where there is 1 there are 1000s. Keep you head down and look in areas of high erosion(creeks, washouts, roads, etc...). I grew up in the area looking for them and have thousands.

FYI, don't waste your time digging in south Texas, the soil/sand is too shallow.

Ok, I will ask again, how do you know its age? If its 3000 vs 300 years old?

I think reelthreat is dead on with tortuga. Could be one if a couple other similar points. At any rate the cultures that made these specific points have been carbon dated extensively.
