dv, I dont know about Homer's but we hunt about 30 miles from there in Doss. We have some acorns falling but there really arent many. I was there last week and the deer were still hammering the feeders and any feed we fed on the roads.

I talked to a man (Darkarcher) who just got back. He said there are very few acorns on the place. They have got a little rain lately, so some new grass growth has taken place. His group didn't take any good shooters last weekend, but a few have been taken in previous weeks.

                        Cull 7 Point

Here is a picture of the cull 7 point my 15 year old son shot at the Homer Martin Ranch last Sunday evening (10-12-08). It is me in the picture because my son was back in school on Monday morning when we found the buck. He went 200 yards on a good double lung hit and left very little blood. I don't know how he made it that far. This is his first buck with a bow!

                        Thanks Joe and Homer!!!!!

My son also shot a doe at that the ranch and she only went 15 yards!

                          Good first buck...

It sounds like your son has put his time in practicing with his bow.
That's good sportsmanship. Too many folks don't put enough time
and effort into being efficient with a bow before they sling an arrow
at a deer. There are too many variables for that, even veteran bow
hunters lose deer from time to time. He did a good job!

Is there a web site on this ranch?
