Default 2021 Formula 1 Season!!!

First day of running the cars in Bahrain on a sand filled track has me pumped up. Verstappen looks like he is on . Mercedes team had struggles overall. Lando Norris was not playing around. I can't wait to get this party started. I hope we get to a race somewhere on the this year, even the wife is having withdrawals after no fun F1 travel last year.

I just hope there are some good crashes. I watch Indy and NASCAR for the wrecks.

With 23 races scheduled this year there will be more than usual. With the speed of these rockets on wheels the wrecks are on another level.....kinda rough to watch.

Yes! Ready for the season. A big Alonso fan so nice to have him back.
So sick of the Mercs dominance and hoping Ferrari has a bounce back year- man they were horrible last season.

The fact that Grosjean is still alive is a miracle. My wife and I both thought we'd just watched someone die when he wrecked last season. Beyond scary.

Definitely ready for the first race at the end of this month. I’m excited to see what Ricciardo, Vettel, Perez and Sainz can do in their new seats. Also great to see Alonso back on the grid. Hoping for a great season!!

Ferrari will definitely do better than last year, since their engines aren’t restricted this year.

McLaren getting Mercedes power is going to be huge for them. I’m expecting them and Red Bull (using the 2022 Honda engine) to be in great form.

I consider myself a pretty hardcore race fan but, I could never get into F1 racing. Dirt tracks and sprint cars have been my thing since the early 1960s. Thunderbird Speedway in Crandall, Texas in the 60s a (no sprinters there....just stock cars and modifieds). Devil's Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas up until 2018.

Now I live one hour away from Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa which is the "Sprint Car Capital of the World"

https://www.knoxvilleraceway.com/

Sprinters will keep you on the edge of your seat.

If you don't believe me watch this highlights video of the feature from the 2016 Knoxville Nationals below.

The winner of this race, Jason Johnson "The Ragin' Cajun" #41, was killed June 23, 2018 in a terrible crash at Beaver Dam Speedway in Wisconsin.

2nd round of testing the cars is happening now in Bahrain ........Mercedes probably gonna push limits today as they were flat yesterday. I really hope Alpha Tauri keeps up the pack like last year, Pierre Gasly is my underdog pick to show out in 2021!!!

Gasly did great on day 2 of testing. Bottas came out on top, and Hamilton seemed to struggle a bit, actually spinning and beaching his MB. Vettel had gearbox issues.

I think the pictures of the cars with flow-vis on them are so cool!

Haas may have two new drivers but they are confident. I think an American team has a chance for once. Yes, Bottas stepped up as Hamilton was playing in the sand. Red Bull has a set of drivers that will push it......gonna be good competition . These new cars are just......elegant!!! Gasly has worked hard during off season and mentally should be on another page. Heck, I just ordered the new Petronas shirt from Mercedes F1 page......I am stoked!!!

I have rooted for Haas for years. However, I’m not as optimistic for them this year. From what I understand, they haven’t done any updates to the car, instead planning on them for the 2022 season.

Although I’m excited to see Mick Schumacher finally in an F1 car, I don’t care for Mazepin at all. I understand the money dynamics as a pay driver, but wasn’t there someone else without all the baggage?

Here are my predictions for Haas — they will battle Williams this year for for last place, and Mazepin’s father will buy the team in 2-3 years. Hope I’m wrong.

Jules Bianchi's crash resulted in the halo that kept Grosjean alive, its still very dangerous they had an F2 driver killed not long ago.

Day 3 of testing was interesting. Red Bull and AlphaTauri both showed strong pace.

Mazepin is an idiot... “Ha Ha, I almost hit Lewis.”

Am I the only one thinking that Mercedes is sand bagging? I find it hard to believe they have somehow lost this much pace.

I think Lando and Ricciardo will push Red Bull for #2 this year. They have found some extra downforce thanks to their engineers. With the reduction of down force this year they are all searching for any small advantage they can get. You can definitely bet some of the teams are punting this year, and just wanting to get to next year with the lower spending cap.

Okay so I’ve never been into watching racing as nascar has been the only thing I’ve seen. Fun live but worse than golf on tv. The newborn and I just binge watched Formula 1 on Netflix and man, I’m hooked! How have I not been watching this?!

Drive to Survive is doing a great job of bringing new fans to the sport. The “behind the scenes” stuff is fascinating, and they do a good job of showing how political it really is. Do they sometimes over dramatize things? Of course, but that’s what makes great TV!

I just finished episode 6 of season 3 last night. Looking forward to seeing the remainder before the season starts this weekend.

I’m really hoping that Red Bull gives Mercedes a challenge this year. I think AlphaTauri will be strong as well.

I think Aston Martin will also do well, especially with Vettel driving. Hoping that McLaren doesn’t have any teething issues with the MB power unit. It would be great to see them back at the top...

Ferrari... They will be back to full power this year, but I think this will be a “rebuilding” year for them. Although that sort of thing isn’t in their DNA, I think that’s Binotto’s plan.

Also great to see Alonso back on the grid!

Do you want admission to the bleachers, the main grandstand, a few different levels of box suites, or bring your lawn chair and grab a spot on the grassy areas (which seem plentiful and quite nice ins areas)? COTA is really nice and the suites are all we have done but everything else seems totally sufficient. I think the last race pre covid we were in owners suite. We went one level up for lasts year cancelled race just to see what the heck could be nicer than what we had the previous 3 years......lots. We had lots of bells and whistles........chefs prepare meals, two huge bars, outside or inside seating, multiple big screens, even Mario Andretti came in to give a 45 question and answer presentation. The wife now wants to follow the circuit to Montreal and Monaco............I am in!!!

Believe suites would be the route to go. When I looked at deposits it seemed like 150 GA and 500 buy didn't specify what the 500 was for. Where did yall stay? Was thinking abnb a house nearby for the duration. Whats needed for behind the scenes passes to meet some of the teams/crews?? My business partner and I think this will make for a good board meeting!

Hyatt Lost Pines Resort has been host for last 3 races that I know. About 15 minutes to track. We get our package thru the concierge service from COTA and they have little upgrades like track walk, pit wall walk, etc. All type of stuff throughout the 4 days. I agree, it would be the perfect BOD meeting spot! My contact has been this guy below, I think they are out of packages but no telling with folks falling on some hard times with covid:

Might actually go this year to COTA versus selling off my seats. Bought into the PSL deal when the track was still dirt. Went a lot then just started selling off when I’ve been busy or uninterested after the first few years. WEC was and is still to this day the best fan experience in my opinion.

Drive to Survive has been good. Only on ep 3 of season 3 though.

Me too!! Max and Lando did look great in FP2, but I’m wondering how much Mercedes had their engines turned down.

Looking forward to Qualifying tomorrow morning.
