I think my wife would like nothing more than for them to get the kid tested at a place like that. I'm sure it has been suggested many times.

she just needs to teach and not worry about it, RR! you know... when she's not preparing for an ARD, or a special 1 on 1 session, or creating special curriculum to address the 7 kids in her class that have 7 different "identified" learning issues, or in a parent conference with parents who are hell bent on their kid being classified, and just can't accept the fact everyone doesn't have a 160 IQ.

man, why won't your wife "just teach"?

I guess your wife isn't concerned about that.
Because if she didn't, she would probably explode! The amount of b.s. teachers have to put up with these days is insane. I would hope spouse's could confide in each other enough to vent a bit....thought that was part of the deal. Don't think I'd run off to work and tattle tale on her and get her fired!geez... Parents are THE main reason my Mother retired when she did.

Tell your wife to stay in her lane

That is my thoughts. Besides, what is it to her if the kid has a coach or not. If he is reading better that is a good thing right?

          I dont understand the issue.

Such a thing as professionalism. You probably aren't familiar with the term.

Even if my wife shared these things, I wouldn't be stupid and put them out on an open forum.

Grizzman states that RR's wife can't vent to him, because it's unprofessional.. then he also states that his wife has "been able to identify some things to parents to indicate issues, but teachers aren't qualified to diagnose these things, and she is very up front about that. She have never heard her complain about a child that potentially had these problems".. without her venting..... how would you know that? Lol

My teacher / coach parents had a saying for students with issues . . "Please be patient, God's not through with me yet" . .

Because my wife made a general statement, not sharing information about specific students. I don't know who they are, what their problems are, etc... because my wife would never tell me that information.

The OP's wife shared specific information which was shared here.

My kid was tested by the school soecialist. Mis diagnosed and placed into a different class. Didn’t help. Took him to someone that didn’t work on a teachers salary. Different diagnosis- put back into regular classes- Allowed to type and also take tests and write after instruction in a diffferent room
Without 30 other kids. Graduated in regular class in 2018 with about a 2.7 gPA- Going to welding school- What type of PHD and how many years of internship did the person doing the testing do? And my kid was tested originally in same school district your wife teaches in

Sorry that they misdiagnosed it and glad that you got outside testing. A lot of ignorant people don't understand the accommodation and why it is made. Sounds like a success story with your child.

My wife as a school counselor deals with this every day. If a child is labeled as having a disorder such as adhd then parents qualify for some type of government program that pays something like $600 per child. So people down here are constantly demanding that their kids be tested. The teachers and principal are in argument all day everyday with parents that are demanding that their kid/kids get tested. Parents don’t care that the child’s grade are good and are learning along with their peers. Parents want their labeled kid so they can get paid!
