Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I have been depressed with how hot and dry it's been out there. My twin brother is headed out there tomorrow to fill up a corn feeder, check the protein feeders, check the water troughs and ponds, and water the trees. I'm anxious to see how our trees are doing with this drought. We've been able to provide supplemental water to them about once a month and I will be very impressed if they can survive this heat and drought. I'm hoping the weed matts and the mulch are really helping the soil maintain some kind of moisture.
We have 3 cellular trail cams out there and only one is currently working. I'm hoping we can figure out what's going on with the other two and get them all working again. All of the animals seem to be in good condition but I haven't seen any poults or any fawns since all of our cameras are inside the feeder pens.
Here are some pictures:
The buck in the background behind the feeder pen has a great frame!
I'm hoping to have some more updates after this weekend and will let you know if the trees are still alive or not. Have a good one!
Thanks for the update! Your bucks are a lot further along than mine, that’s for sure! How is the burn area looking?
Last time I was out there the burn area had about 1/2-inch of green growth but I'm sure it's powdered dry by now. It's unfortunate because that was some of our best fawning habitat where we burned but hopefully the fawns will find other places to hide. The good news is that my mom texted us a picture this morning of a doe nursing a fawn about 100 yards from the house. I'm hoping to have some pictures this weekend to share.
