If you had a budget of $1000 for camera and lens what would you purchase, used is fine. Purpose to take pictures of new born and an occasional wildlife/farm picture.

I’d shop for a good deal on a used 80D and 70-200 F4. I see both on Facebook marketplace for $5-600 each from time to time.
Just re-read your post, since you have the tele lens, I’d get a fast 24-70, like the tamron 2.8 I have for sale here

A couple deals on 80D’s on the FB market. There is a decent deal on a 6D with 24-105, also considering a Nikon 750 but not sure I’d get much more than a 50 1.8 with it.Comment

That 55-250 is a great little lens. I'd recommend Canon since you're already started, and an 80D or a 7D Mark II would be great bets. Then grab you a nifty 50 (50mm 1.8) and maybe a 24mm 1.8, and call it good.Comment

I have a Canon 60D with battery grip, 2 batteries, and a 24-105 that I’m asking $1000 for. It’s been a great camera, just upgraded to a 5D and 2.8 glass.Comment
