    Be careful out there.

I was looking for a good tree to move one of my cameras to this a.m. and this dude comes straight up and out of thick / foot tall or more grass and surfs on top of it going away from me. I was about 4 feet away and glad I was taking my time looking for a straight tree for my camera. I also have very limited cell service, so take extra precautions if you are hunting or at your lease by yourself.

            This was Erath County?

I have seen one Copper Head in 15 years and that’s about it!

            Thanks for the heads up!

When I was land surveying in the field I would come across rattlers fairly often. I let them all go unless it was there the next day. Only killed 1 in 20 years in the field. If they were around my house or near a place with kids then I'd change my stance.

Yes, it was northern Erath county. No cows on the property and the grass is overgrown. I am taking the shredder down in a couple of days and shredding the pasture roads. He was about 20 yards from a big pile of old pushed mesquites that never got burned..

I just want to point out that...... All of the big rattlesnakes I have ever walked up on have been in late September and October.

Keep your eyes on the ground in front of you !!
