    Aussies attempt at apple pie shine

    Gday all,

    Didnt want to hijack the existing apple pie shine so i started up this.

    Wasnt able to get everclear so i opted for a bigger dose of vodka.

    Heres a few pics as it goes, still waiting for it to cool at the moment before adding alcohol.


    I didnt let it simmer as such, just got it hot and kept it just below a simmer for maybe half an hour.


    Checking colour and clarity compared to pics I've seen on this forum!


    Taste is delicious, maybe a tad too sweet but very interested to see how the vodka goes with it. Cinnamon balance seems right. Decided to be adventurous and added a clove and a vanilla bean.

          I don't remember my exact amount but last batch I added whipped cream flavored vodka and the Everclear and it turned out awesome.

            Taste is great, only issue is its nowhere near as clear as what you guys have.

            I think my issue is apple cider, I'm not sure what you call apple cider. In Australian it's pretty much just bubbly apple juice, I took some advice and assumed maybe it's what we call cloudy apple juice.



            As long as it doesn't kill me I'm sure it'll be fine. Warms the belly anyway!

                    I cut the sugar down to 1/3 cup of white and 1/3 cup of brown and it's still plenty sweet.
