Strange Injury On Buck

[Longue Carabine]

This buck had a strange injury that went all the way around his leg. The skin was completely gone and the bone was showing. A tendon was also severed.

Any ideas on a cause?

I thought it may be the remnants of a rattlesnake bite after swelling went down

Could have gotten hung up in a fence.

I would think fence or old wire.

Could it have been caught in a snare that some use for hogs and coyotes?

Very easily. Jump, get caught between two wires, kicks and struggles and fortunately broke free. Most cases you find them dead.

Yep, now I can see. He must have done it one someone else's property because my strands are about a foot and a half apart

Easily happens no matter the distance apart. All you need is 2 wires. Could be why he was able to get out of it.
