I lived in Virginia for 10 years before I was able to come back home to Texas. Public land up there is not that great according to those that I knew who hunted it. Best way to find a place to hunt is knock on doors and ask permission. Where I hunted in Loudoun County you could bow hunt from September all the way through April. This is because the deer density in the county is out of control. A lot of people are willing to let you bow hunt on their property because the amount of damage that they do to their gardens.

There’s plenty of decent public land if you drive west and hike some. I hunted with friends at a hunt club on the Eastern Shore for the last 10-15 years. Some of my favorite memories. Hunting those marshes and hardwoods is a ton of fun.

A friend of mine lives there, he tells me about the gun grab efforts. I'm not sure about bow hunting, but I don't think you can hunt on Sundays.
