What deer are you talking about? Or animal? To mu knowledge he hasn’t killed any illegal animal or wasted one?
Didn’t have a weapon in him to my knowledge. Can’t prove he dumped. It’s my strong opinion he did. If I speed 4 over and get caught I deserve a ticket. He CAN let me go If a 10 shoots a 12” deer he deserves a ticket, he CAN be let go An officer CAN NOT make up his rules before hand that go against the law Everyone has the right to wave an offense My sons were forgiven, so why shouldn’t I use mercy as well? I handles the problem I believe and made it noted with correct authority so IF THERE is a next it will be handled differently |

.... yea auto correct missed a bunch there. Good lord.... that or the cracks in this screen saver (honestly had to correct 4 words in this post
Ain’t worth reposting and derailing this thread Daughter got a big doe this evening on another property. She’s tagged out on doe. Neighbor at dairy shot the 8 we were going after tomorrow with muzzleloader. Called me to track. Let it lay till 9:30 or so and tracked 120-150ish yards on very little blood. I bet all of it would fit on 1/2 a business card. Looked like muscle blood to me. He’s been pretty regular at my protein feeder so maybe he shows back up. I got “ME” she can go after and a wide 9 that we seen tonight. I’ve passed him 4 times but she was just waiting on a good shot. He didn’t like the new pop up even though it was inside wood line and brushed in. The Doe didn’t even pause |

Here’s a short summary of my season. It started off with nothing but a ton of pigs and went downhill from there. Needless to say, I didn’t sit in my stand much this season.

The area I hunt on my lease was graded and few years ago but never cut. I sure wish they would cut it though. It'll never be better than the first 3 or 4 years after it's done. |

Yup. Also gives us a chance to improve our trails. These trees were last cut 20+ years ago, so I shouldn’t have to ever worry about this again.

Getting on a lease in Hardin county for the 2021-22 season. The place is huge. From the map it looks like it’s a mix of young to old pines, with one creek running through it that seems to have hardwoods surrounding it. I’ve hunted ETX for a few years now but it’s always been in the hills which made picking hunting spots a little easier. For those of you hunting flat land pine plantations, what are some things to look for? I plan on primarily bow hunting and then finding a fire lane to have a box blind on. For the most part I’ll be in a lock on.

What a season
I let Lola go after “Main Event” the last week of youth season. He did the same as he did to me. Missed him by 20min- 1 hr. The last weekend of youth we hunted Saturday am and pm... no show. Sunday school that morning and hunted the last evening.... nada. Pulled cameras and my lone wolf monday to monitor pigs..... he was in front of her blind and under my stand for an hour Sunday morning. Lol Now he’s at my hog trap every day, so he made it through the season. Hopefully I’ll get a look at him as an 8.5 yo. Preliminary scouting today showed me where his main trail could be. If so that puts me 200 yards closer! Couldn’t go in there during season. Too risky |

Did anyone notice a sizable decrease in doe sightings this season over years past? The two places I hunt it was absolutely stark. And I’m talking about places that are an hour apart and in two different counties, so it wasn’t an isolated thing.

We have been doe heavy for the last couple years. I think we knocked their number back a little this year and we increased the harvest by about 30%.
There were an immense number of fawns this year though. |

They (does) completely disappeared from my place during the season this year. Or at least while I was hunting. I did not have game cameras out.

Lots of scrapes all of a sudden over the last week or two.
I have a feeling we have some fawns crossing the weight threshold and are coming into season. This partnered with some bucks that have lost their antlers. Interesting times. |

In 11 traps for hogs I’ve got 20+ deer crawling threw gate that’s below knee height to get in.... and the pigs are jumping my feed pens to eat there
I have 1 yearling that has bald spots where he has shed. Seen 2 LARGE rubs today running coon traps |

Made one more trip to the lease before we called it a season today. Buck sightings were sparse as per usual for me this year, but I did get one more doe for the freezer. Shot her in the neck so I could save the heart and am really looking forward to that.
I’ve got some good things planned for next year and am really excited about getting started. Last edited by Etxbuckman; 01-31-2021 at 08:58 PM. |

Still at it. Probably give it one more weekend.
The bucks were definitely hungry Friday and Saturday. You couldn’t beat them off the feed either day. Surprisingly, most are still holding on to their horns. Only a couple have dropped that I have been seeing. Sunday was a little slower, but the wind was way up. Say a bunch of fawns and a doe playing leap frog over the yellow corn road. It was comical to watch. |
