Wanted to start a thread just for this up coming Feb 3-5 bow season at Laguna Atascosa NWR - Bahia Grande Unit.


I got drawn with a party of 4. Who else is going? Any big tips from people who have been the past couple years?

So far it's about 50% on shots hitting animals but recovery is very low.

I shot a cow this morning. About 80 yards. The slug knock her off her feet. She got up and went maybe 10 yards and bedded down. I was watching her. After about 10 minutes she got up and walked about 15 step. She was heading the wrong direction. I put another slug in her at about 105yds (free hand). Looks like it hit her, she doesnt move though. I put another one in her, i for sure hit her and she takes off, runs about 500 yards looks like on 3 legs, and I see her bed up. I packed out, drove my truck a little closer to where she laid up. I looked for her for 2 hrs without one clue
