Default Prostate Cancer surgery recovery.

A week ago today I had a Robotic assisted Radical Prostatectomy . I had a rough 1st few days but slowly got going. Ive been hooked to a Catheter towing my Pee bag wherever I go ! My wife being a nurse has been an Angel in my recovery. Tomorrow I get the Catheter removed and start learning how to Pee again. I want to thank all the support I've gotten from the family on the green screen when I was 1st diagnosed. Once again want to remind everyone to get your yearly Check ups. This stuff was caught early thru a simple blood test LP

I had stage 4 prostate cancer and had my prostate removed in September 2016 and had to wear the catheter 2 weeks. Of course the VA did mine.
I went for checkups every 3 months for the first year and then every 6 months after that for 5 years.
Make sure you do your exercises and hang in there. It will get better.

I'm sorry you had to go through that! I had the same in 1998, but not robotics; cut me from my belly button to my...nevermind! I could not wait to get rid of the catheter, but when I did, I missed having it because I then had to get up at night to pee!!!

Bump to the top to remind all males (even those of you who identify as something else) to have your PSA (that's not a bow) checked after the age of 45 or at least after 50.

Thanks for the blessings. Yesterday - I went to get my catheter removed and follow up with Doctor and Pathology. Come to find out that my low grade Cancer- was a bit more. Doc. informed the that some of the cancer cells were a little more aggressive in an area close to the border of the Prostate. The limp nodes were negative as well as the Seminal Vesicles and Vas Deferens . There were no outside lesions on the prostate as well. My doctor wants me to return in 7 weeks for another PSA blood test. As Mentioned- The PSA Blood test helps in targeting possible further development. I'm glad to finally have my catheter out ! Working on my Keagel excercises so I can get out of these diapers ASAP Once again thanks for all the feedback and Get well wishes. LP

Thanks for sharing & glad you're doing well! My dad has stage 4 prostate cancer that has spread to all of his bones. He is about to have his 9th chemo treatment. I'm 41 now and get checked twice a year.

Hopefully, they got it early and got it all. Be careful and try not to sneeze or cough until you get "control" again. Ask me how I know!
