Default New "Team" Ideas for 2011

We have had the following suggestions for new teams next year.

Team Trash Can (Thorthunder seems to see enough of his threads there so it should be a natural fit)

Team Soda/Juice/non-alcohol drinks- Take a little pressure off Team Bar

Team Kid Friendly Food- Hot dogs, burgers, chicken nuggets etc.

Team Side Dish- This could be a place that Nanza Virgins could bring a side dish and leave it as well

Team Fruit- Officially anyway(FND seems to be a natural fit according to Smart)

Team Paper Goods- We have a Team Cup but this could be a place that could have plates, plastic silver-ware, plastic cups, napkins, etc. Could also incorporate Team Trash into this Pop-Up.

Team Music- Rtarcher had some good ideas for this a few days before Nanza this year. I think that the musical talent has been way underestimated. Could become a "Team Nanzapalooza"! Also having a microphone for making anouncements over the PA would be a big plus that could be heard out a little further.

Team T.P.- no more description needed here- also could be a part of Team Paper Goods

Team Merchandise- I liked the set-up under the pavilian for distributing the pre-paid Nanza Shirts but I believe Mary shut it down around Noon so she could be closer to the party. Maybe a seperate Pop-up for continued merchandise sales or for some of the late arriving members that was closer to the little parking lot in the grass area. Put up a board at the back of the canopy with merchandise for sale to hang on. Kinda like a concert. Nanzapalooza comes to mind again here.

Team Boudin always does hot dogs and buns, are name is a little deceiving, we are more like Team stuffed in casing and Team gumbo.

Generally each team brings their own serving ware.

Lots of good ideas here.

Team Cash Money- I know this has been discussed before but I think we need to come up with a way to take in cash donations to be divided among the teams and TBH to help cover more of the costs. As Bownanza grows bigger so do the expenses. I wasn't on a team this year because I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to make it. I greatly appreciate all the time, effort and Expense that you guys went through to make it a good time for ALL!!!

Good ideas for sure but like Travis has mentioned.. most teams bring everything they will need to serve their food.

Also most of the teams bring trash bags or cans and have them set up in their area.

I am all for the Team Non-Alcoholic drinks for the kids and any non drinkers.

I thought there was a Team Side Dish? There was in the past.

There tends to be more problems than benifits when you put cash into the mix.

How about if anyone wants to show their appreciation to the teams, make donations to said team.

Well put People that are not on teams could be putting in donations. This would help with the team exspence.

Younguns - To make it even more kid friendly, have most of the kids items away from the hot smokers, pits fish cookers and from the alcohol. Maybe closer to the playground in the grass. It wouldn't take much at all to have 5 gallon water coolers full of a couple different flavors of Kool-Aid, some bottled water and fresh fruit.

Music - I've talked to a friend of mine that's a singer/songwriter. He is not a member "yet" but is all for joining and coming to future Bownanzas. He's got a couple of videos on youtube.com/justinbowerman. I had a thread on here last year giving away his cd's some of you may remember. He will impress, I guarantee!

So are you heading up "Team Micky D's"??

As for kid beverages, I have two children running around out there. I make sure to take care of their needs. (with a few extra to share)

I like the idea of of allowing each team be able to put out a donation jar. I know this year that I spent approx $200-$250. I dopn't expect to recoup all but a little wouldn't hurt.

i think the donation jar is the way to go. the thing that is great about bownanza is that all the people bring food and beverages and share with eveyone. i don't think it ever needs to be something that you have to pay to go too. just let people donate money as they want to. i know some stuff is expensive, but i think if you start making people give money it will just cause problems. i have only been to this past bownanza so maybe i don't know as much as others on here.

I don't think there ia a rule that prohibits donation jars.

We had tips at the bar this year to help GJ (he laid out a grand on cups and rib meat). I think we got close to covering his expenses but I'm not sure.

I agree, we need to do a better job of spreading out the expenses.

Hopefully we can do a better job in the coming years. Thanks

yeah... "free" gives the event a fun feel.

It's hardly free for those who bring product to the table but the spirit of free is still there for the new guys.

Fortunately bowhunters understand the effort and cost and do a great job pitching in.... we just need to stay organized and let people know where funds are needed.

Since everyone loves mma, how about a team beat down. We could do some martial arts demos, and I would be willing to do an exhibition fight or two. There are some other fighters on tbh that might be willing, and I could bring a few. We could wear protective gear and go 75% to avoid injury, and make it kid friendly. It would be fun if it would be allowed.

We have always had "Team Sidedish", just not a whole lot of participation. As for asking for $$, I'm against that. 1st thing you know it will be all about a profit. Try and put a price tag on them perch I brought, way cheaper to go to Krogers

As far as money goes This should always be a freee event.. I know there are several members on this site that might struggle just having gas money to make it out to the event. Our objective here is to grow and get more and more every year. With such our expenses will increase as well. I also disaggree with a charging structure but I know there are several members who are willing to open their wallets and put money towards a team but simply just dont want to have to any work and just enjoy them selfs. I dont see a problem with this. I think each team should be able to have and or use a paypal account to except donations from memebers who would like to help out a certain team.

I know some of these teams get very expensive...

I thought there was a team sidedish but what I am proposing is letting some of the rookies bring a side dish and drop it off at the table.

I spoke with several first timers that really wanted to participate but didn't know what to expect. If someone wanted to pitch in this would be an easy way to get a large variety of food and make some of the members feel like they pitched in a little.

I am not saying do away with Team Sidedish but let this ad to their team a little.

This one kinda died/fizzled out.

The Special Needs thread got me to thinking. Maybe we could have a 'Special' Team for these special kids. A special play area or trained, adult supervision so the parents could get a little break time. Just a thought I thought I'd throw out there. I'd be happy to work a few hours watching y'alls special ones and I've lived with my autistic stepson for 13 years so I'm a little experienced. What do y'all think?

There has been a PA system the past couple of years and I sure there will continue to be one....anyone and everyone is encouraged to pick a few strings and sing a few notes.

As far as a team merchandise, that would be asking someone to stay at one place during bonanza. We all know that the person in charge of this team would not get to experience the full taste of nanza. I don't think it would be fair to do that to anyone....if anyone wants to volunteer then I would vote, yes.
