We will be there, doing our part. I have t-shirts left from last year, in the event that some folks want some. They're pretty much the coolest t-shirts ever produced . . . .

Any openings in Team Gizzard. At work we actually do the fried gizzard and gravy every 4th Friday. The meeting is called "Gizzard Committee"

Given Dale's most recent post on the Team Bar thread, I can't imagine there being a team for which I am more suited. I can honestly say that I've never cooked a gizzard, but I have marinated, fried and otherwise made edible a bunch of weird ****.

Tubby is also looking for a team, and I feel certain he wouldn't mind wearing a gold chain and swingin' a pipe.

Got room?

ETS: We have a bunch of cookers etc. between us, should the need be there. Induction shall supersede, however.

Ouch, you are welcome to join Team Gizzard. As we draw closer, I will put together a list of needs . . . over time the team has grown such that the contributions by individual members are kept to a minimum, and we usually get by with little money spent.

I look forward to discussing the finer points of life with you over bloody mary's and the ear deafening roar of Moser's NASA funded gizzard fryer . . . .

If crappie are biting, he's nowhere to be found.... intentionally.

I'll call him when I get a chance and check his status. I'm sure he's in as usual.

As this will be my first (of hopefully many more) 'Nanzas, I was more than willing to help out any way I could. I didn't know exactly how things were run and was later informed on "teams". I volunteered some supplies for Team Bar and hadn't yet picked a team. Low and Behold, my good ol' buddy Ouch went and volunteered me for TEAM GIZZARD! Thanks buddy, I DON'T EVEN USE THEM FOR TROTLINE BAIT, MUCH LESS EAT 'EM! I'll be more than happy to help out anyway I can. Yes, I'll even sample a gizzard. I nominate myself to be the one standing in the middle of Team Gizzard and Team Bar to "swap samples" between one another

Just got off the phone with Hickory Nut and not only is he possibly not going to make it, but he lost his connection for gizzards. I have one though here in Austin if we need to use it.

Anyone else have a good gizzard connection? We are going with the amount we had last year which was 40 pounds.

Gizzards, or no gizzards...Bownanza would be a lesser event without the greatness of Joe Vanucci...

JP,

I think we had access to 80#, but only cooked 40#, which was about the right amount. I don't personally know of anyone/any place that would donate gizzards, which would be the ideal situation. I can check to see if we can get some kind of bulk rate at one of the local grocers, and report back.

Joe will be missed at the gizzard shack.

If we are going to have to pay, please let me know and I will check with my connection here in Austin and see what he can do for us. He is one of the Dads in our Indian Guides tribe.

Joe's not out 100% yet, but I'd guess 98%. He is trying to figure out whether he is going to be accompanying his wife on a weeklong trip. If he doesn't go, he will be coming, just without gizzards.

I checked HEB in Austin (Westlake . . .the priciest one) today for gizzard prices. They quoted me 1.19 per pound (this is after a 20-cent per pound reduction in price due to buying at least 40 pounds). This comes out to about $48, which is not too bad . . . .like $5/per team member.

If the team is down with that, I can buy them. Or, does anyone else want to shop around?

Let me know.

Ok boys and girls... There is a request that any Bownanza teams that will be cooking with fire to have a single fire extinguisher on hand. Being that Dale is bringing his Jet-Fuel Chicken Gut Fryer we need to play nice and follow orders. I've got a medium sized A-B-C extinguisher in my garage I can throw in my truck... problem solved. Might want to put that on the list of supplies when the list is made so I don't forget it!

I keep an extinguisher in the truck, along with a nomex HAZ-MAT suit (never know when a gizzard cookin may break out).

I'll try to get a list goin and you boys tune it as you see fit.

JP-Typical array of marinades/seasonings, mollejas
Duane-Official Team "G" Bloody Marys
Simek-The Guts, crazy gizzard knowledge, Simek "The Godfather of Gizzards", Frank
Dale-Fryer, propane, oil, camp box full of junk
Chicken-Help Dale load fryer and drink beer at Sr's house, and with oil
RSatt-4-6 aluminum serving pans, Trent
Diamonde40-Couple pounds of flour
Ouch-Couple more pounds of flour
Tubby-Gold chain, lead pipe, paper towels, fire extinguisher

If Chris doesn't mind frontin the cash for the "stuff", 6$-8$ a man on the day of should have us in the "Gizzard Zone".

Change as needed....or delete all together....
