After 30 yrs as a LEO L find that this makes me happy

A perfect pinch in the field.

My walk with God (that has become very intentional about 7 years ago)
My wife being happy
Seeing my kids as successful and productive members of society and loving their jobs.
Spending time with my new Grand daughter
Sharing my love of our Lord and his great outdoors with others that may not have the
means or knowledge and have never seen a sunrise in the woods or on the water.

The giving back to others and volunteering has come back to me ten-fold by giving me
opportunities that I never dreamed I could have and strengthening my marriage,
my relationship with my kids and my relationship with God.

Some of these make me smile and some sad. The variations of post is enlightening.

We need more grandmas and grandpas like this. The world would be a much better place.



What makes me happy? Thinking about all the good times my wife and I had. But then I snap out of it and cry for my loss as she is gone now.

Thank you for the kind comment and I'm so sorry for your loss. I grieve with you and many others on here over the losses you've all suffered. Certainly not at the same level you all do but my heart does ache for you all. I wish I could help you with your pain. I truly wish I could.

My family, kids and grandchildren

This, and a close 2nd would be Fall days in the woods.

Taking deep breath:

Having coffee on my back porch at sunrise looking across beautiful Lake Livingston.
Knowing that the best woman in the world has been by my side for 46 years.
Knowing that both my daughters are navigating this life with great families and careers.
Loving on my grandchildren when I can.
Having my deer lease 20 minutes from my home.
Knowing that my friends except me and forgive me for my weaknesses.
Knowing that God truly loves me and forgives me of my sins.
Being in the position to help those that have crossed my path.
Having a drink on my back porch watching the sun go down on beautiful Lake Livingston.

That sounds like good living. I enjoyed reading this one.

Toddler laughs
Seeing my kids very successful in their hobbies
Sunrises/sunsets
A THUMP followed by slack line
Top water blowups
Smooth drag
Headshakes from big trout
The relief of seeing your downed deer at the end of a bloodtrail.
Habitat work on my own land
A job with visible progress at the end of the day.
Good friends
Alone time
Watching a working dog do its job.


The list is endless, but these are a few that come to mind.
