Default Nice Bucks Starting to Go Down in Iowa

It is way early yet, but some good ones have been killed. It will get better as the crop harvest continues and the rut heats up. The hunter in orange shot his buck during early muzzleloader season which is embedded in bow season.

I am starting to get excited. I went a bought a handful of tags today.

Here are some pictures courtesy of Trophy Bucks of Iowa FB page.

I will keep updating this thread with pics.

My farm tag is $2.00. We actually get 4 farm tags. One buck and 3 does between my wife and myself. My state wide tag is $33.00.

Are there farms in Iowa that sell whitetail hunts? Never really looked into it but would like to get a big Midwest whitetail.

What are some of the best units? I should have 4 pref points next year and will be looking to hunt Iowa in 2020-2021 or so... Is public good and not over-hunted?

You know the deer are massive when the hunters don't have to get 4' back behind them to make them look massive.

Those are awesome bucks!

There are outfitters that own/lease land that sell hunts. I know a good one in zone 6 that is reasonable on prices.

Zone 5 and Zone 6 in South Central and southeast Iowa are the most popular and the most difficult to draw. There are other great areas also. The northeast corner of the state (Allamakee and Clayton counties) produce a lot of big bucks and overall huge numbers of deer. There are areas in West and Southwest Iowa that are great also.

The public land in Iowa is awesome and does not get much pressure. I have 6700 acres of public ground 10 miles from my house. I have been over there scouting twice and I have seen one truck parked in one of the parking areas.

Hey Derek. I was down in Texas at CCR this weekend shooting in a benefit archery tournament. I had almost forgot how bad the traffic was down there. It didn't take long for me to remember. Who are all those people and where did they come from?

I am back home in Iowa now. We love it up here.
