Agreed. We recently started traveling and I picked bear up a Marucci Cat8 and he absolutely loves making contact with that bat.

He said dad, it's like everything changed?!?!
No son, you have a new tool and your confidence has increased as a result of you switch-hitting now.

We are playing Fall ball this year for the first time in a long time.

My boy decided to quit football and focus on baseball 100%, because he wants to play in college.

Man, it's hard to let them make their own decisions. I'm not sure I agree with it, but you have to let them grow up and do their own thing at some point.

He was the #14 ranked 2021 wide receiver in the state in TAPPS.
Yep - I'm braggin' and bummed at the same time!

Here are last years highlights:

I sure am missing some Friday night lights...but have killed a few more doves to make up for it!

Iíd love for him to learn the mental side, and just be caught up on golf too when he gets older, plus I can play with him. Both great games, both very mental.

I have to admit, it surprises me a little that Tanner would be interested, and I think thatís awesome. Catchers are usually the smartest ball player on the field, so that makes some sense.

Kid threw 5 today at PG qualifier in Tomball. It was a little warm with a 3p start time. Not sure how the last game today went but they went 2 games without giving up a run. Kid gave up a single to the 2nd batter and that was it. Kid is done for tourney as he went 75 pitches. Wish it would cool down a little

Little highlight from weekend of one of Tans throw downs..
Had pretty good outings with a couple outs at the plate where he was outweighed by 50lbs but hicast is being a biscuit and cant get the game times to show the video.

Fall ball is meh..treating it as developmental for keeping chops up.
Cant wait for spring.

Default 2019 Select Baseball

Noahís team is now 13u and boy has it been an adjustment. They have had to learn to really play baseball, understand the value of moving runners and sometimes playing small ball.
However, this weekend they figured it out and put together some good baseball and won their tournament.

A thought for you fellas on golf for young ball players...

If he bats righty get him a lefty set of clubs if he is dying to play. That way you don't jack up his swing, and he may even pick up switch hitting.

Great job fellas. My 9u son took the fall off completely for football and even said the other day he doesn't know if he wants to play baseball any more lol. Its not a surprise to me really, he's fallen in love with football and had always loved basketball, I can't believe he's played baseball as long as he has, he's a high energy kid to say the least.

My 12u has been playing football and his baseball team is just practicing through the fall. I've been real impressed with the practices and it's been nice not playing any tournaments. He was asked to guest play this coming weekend and when I asked him if he wanted to play he said no thanks.

Good luck to you guys in the last few tourneys...

Both of my boys are back at it. Oldest is playing freshman football and 14u baseball and my 11yo just had his first games yesterday. He had an ear drum reconstruction surgery and has missed the last few Sunday league games. Both boys are having fun and holding their own so all is good I guess! Lol. Good luck to all of our resident ballplayers!

I really like and give you kudos for taking time off from baseball. Noah is playing football too and absolutely loves it. He goes to hitting practice on occasion, but itís not a priority because itís football season and heís focused on that.

i am hoping it will light a fire and rekindle some love by the time spring gets here.

its not easy though, watching all of our old teammates and friends playing lol, its always in the back of my mind that we need to be playing to keep up. but at the end of the day i know a ton of kids that never played fall ball that turned out just fine.

once football is over we will start hitting some more at home, they are getting a lot of reps right now in practice too, although Brock is pretty rusty.

Yeh.. funny story...was dead set against a zen ...so we got a zen.
Broke it in methodically...and its got pop... he likes it..

Was assured if it ever had issues i could get a prime as a replacement...

You sound like me! Both fantastic bats, but don't be surprised if that Zen becomes the back-up! We have swapped brands before on warranty bats with no issues. Makes it nice. Hope he enjoys it!

Looks like Brady may get picked up for a tournament this weekend, with the team he's trying out for next month. I hope the tournament makes, he's excited and I want to see him play some more.

Question for you select ball guru’s. My son just turned 8 and got on a select team a few months ago and was wondering if it’s worth having him do some batting practice with a wooden bat or just stick to his 2-3/4 bat he uses for the game. Reason for me thinking about getting him a wooden 2-1/4 bat for practice is if he can hone in on getting good hits with a smaller barrel, when he does go back to his big barrel it should make it easier but I might be way off

Also, is it worth getting him a weight sleeve for his bat when warming up? He’s a big boy for his age(57” 96lbs) and want to help him get more bat speed. I’ll be asking his batting coach but wanted to see what y’alls opinions are.

I got tan a heavy wood bat to start his cage sessions with..but honestly.. he does it because hes seen others do it...and he thinks it sounds cool...

We spend more time breaking down his seing and working on mechanics.

Im sure swingin it helps with some strength conditioning..but measurable...i dont know...
He doesnt swing weights during games...personal preference..

I think the wood bat helps, like you said, if he can square it up and hit line drives with wood he'll be able to with a big barrel. I'd get him a drop 10 or drop 8 in wood.

We went and practiced tonight with the team weíre picking up with this weekend. Good bunch of dudes, and Snoop made a great account of himself...especially not having swung anything but a golf club for 3 months. I have to admit, it was sure nice being at the ball field again...I LOVE watching those kids play ball.

Looking forward to live action this weekend.

good luck to you guys, hope it works out with the new team.

my 9u sons coach messaged me yesterday letting me know they have a kid moving this winter and checking to see what our plans were so he could figure out the spring roster, i told him i would talk to logan last night and see what he wants to do. again he said he doesnt want to play baseball any more, instead he wants to play on 2 basketball teams lol.

i have tried to tell him he may not be tall enough to excel at basketball and he asked me what he needs to do to get taller....

Had an interesting morning..
first game boys beat themselves.. scored 11 runs and lost by a walkoff..
Had to have had 7 errors ..mostly mental..
2nd game decided to lets bats go in last inning and walked it off after being down by 6..
Tan a great day behind plate... not so good while holding a bat..
Dribblers to second.. a hard hit fly out directly to center....and i mean the kid didnt flinch.. barely had to move his glove.. walked 3 times though..
Gotta go play at a municipal dump of a park tomorrow..

Got him a visor guy visor for his mask a couple months ago..paid for itself today.

Both of mine are playing today. 14u is in a 15/16u event at Conroe high and the 11yo is back at rothwood for the Sunday double header deal! Beautiful day for some ball!

Good job Tab! I need to check into the visor. My oldest has some light blue eyes and the sun just kills him. Is it easy to remove if you don't need it?

Yep 2 thumb screws
I superglued the mounts to the facemask so they are always in the same position

We got the #2 seed out the gate..
Boys played ok.. still mental stuff.. but hung with them but got sent home.

Batting still an issue with the boy..
Tans had a dribbler to 2nd... then another dribbler to short ..both swinging a pitches at his ankles.. he never does that but i think hes just frustrated at the plate and is swinging to make contact..
Positive side ..caught another amazing game....really fun to watch him learn how to help call the game..watch batters stances.. get his pitchers pumped up..
