My little girl will be 4 in April. She is infatuated with shooting hogs, coyotes and deer. One of her favorite things to do with me is ride around and look at dead hogs the day after I kill them with thermal.
Now all she wants to watch on YouTube with me is videos of deer and hogs getting skinned. I actually think it’s pretty cool that she isn’t grossed out and she genuinely wants to learn about skinning and then eating them.......My wife on the other hand is afraid she’s going to turn into the next Norman Bates... lol. I don’t see anything wrong with it but is it bad for me to let her watch that stuff?? |

I think it’s fantastic. Mix in an educational aspect and it’s even better.

Nothing wrong with it. My son was like that when he was very young too.

Maybe Mom doesn’t want you turning her into a “Tom Boy”?
I don’t see anything wrong with it sounds normal for me. Kids like to do what their parents do. |

I was "helping" clean pheasants and quail at a young age and looking at bits and pieces of prairie dogs after my Uncle and Grandpa got done shooting them. I don't wear women's clothing and murder people or anything. I don't think it's that big of a deal.
If you catch her drowning cats and puppies in the backyard when she gets older you might want to worry but just looking at dead hogs and watching hunting videos won't hurt anything. |

When she starts stringing pig ears on a necklace and wearing them to school to complement her muddy girl camo...completely acceptable.
Tally Ho! Keep up the good work Dad. |

My 4 year old's favorite show is MeatEater. She's been with me in the blind when I killed a doe this fall and helped me skin and quarter it. We've had lots of fun making "deer snacks" (aka: jerky) out of her together. I told her she can go turkey hunting with me this fall and she can't stop talking about it.
Can't say my wife is crazy about it, but the little girl loves being outside so I'm not holding her back! My point of concern is teaching gun safety and not discussing guns or pretending to play with guns outside our family. I know others will have opinions on that subject, but that's mine. |

Sounds like a great kid. Be thankful she has a strong interest in the outdoors and hunting. I wouldn't change a thing.

My 5 year old daughter is the same way. Anything I bring home she wants to check it out and watch me clean it weather it be fish or birds. She gets a little disgusted with some of it but she wants to keep watching and helping.

Being interested in the anatomy of animals could lead her to med school. You may have a surgeon as a daughter one day.

I aint got any kids but I don't see anything wrong with it.
I always tell my wife I could agree with her, but then we would both be wrong. .....she doesn't really appreciate it. |

My daughter (I have 2 and they are not alike at all) is older than a lot of you folks reading this now but when I would clean animals fish and whatever, she loved to watch and touch the heart and guts at very early ages. Never hesitated pulling the trigger for her first doe very early on. She now owns a private educational coaching business for all ages and has included contracts assisting veterans concerns along with teachers and PHDs on staff. So I say it is fine! She does not even hunt as an adult but respects those who do and probably would again.

Well, first of all, I don't have a clue who this "Noman" guy is/was, but your description of your daughter is most father's dreams!! Both my son and daughter grew up hunting and loved it. They thoroughly enjoyed learning about all the organs as we gutted them. My daughter told me that our deer were more fun to gut than "Uncle Ernie's"... Most all the deer we shot back then with a gun were head shot and, well let's just say "Uncle Ernie's" were sometimes a mess with green stuff and such mixed in the area a bit!... My son continued to hunt/fish and be in the outdoors until his untimely early passing. My daughter still loves the outdoors and loves it when her two sons go hunting with Poppa... She does not hunt any longer, but thoroughly loves the outdoors... She's a high school G&T math teacher, Sunday School teacher for the kids, and has never far as I know wanted to gut a human to learn about his organs...
![]() ![]() I say good on you dad, and maybe you need to get your wife in on the fun!! ![]() |

I see no issues with your little girl but perhaps you might not want to leave hogs laying around dead after you shoot them lol. Maybe drag them to the gut pit or something.
