Default Music thread- I need a diversion

With all the weather/ busted pipes/ rolling( that's a joke) blackouts etc... I need a diversion.
In the past y'all have given me some really good ideas on new music groups.( this is where I discovered Blackberry Smoke)
I'll throw one out there- Tomar and the FC's. ( sorry, just discovered 'em) . so let me hear 'em and stay warm

One to look at that not many talk about is Ian Noe. He is kind of a cross between John Prine and Bob Dylan with a bit better voice. Pretty stripped down songs that reflect life in the rural rust belt. I will warn you a lot of his songs are not safe for work/kids. He is a Gritty storyteller

Marcus King is no joke. Ive been into good music for a dang long time. Heard him come on one day and was wondering where he had been all my life, assuming he had been running around with the likes of Derek Trucks and Chris Robinson. Looked him up and he was 21 at the time. Blew my mind.

Ok, so I'm seeing some metal-loving folks around, so I can share. There's been an increase in new metal bands bringing back some of the old-school sounds. Here's a few I've discovered:
  • Gygax (incredible Thin-Lizzy-like guitar work, DND and fantasy themes, fun listen)
  • Visigoth (based out of Salt Lake City - impressive band)
  • Metalian (Canadian band with super high vocals and fast pace)
  • Hellfire (CA folks with lots of talent)
  • Dream Trll (British band - mix of styles. Give Second to None a try)
  • Fury (try to find their Lost in Space album)
  • Sellsword (fantasy/medieval-based - not for everyone but talented dudes
  • Amon Amarth (not new, but prolific in their music - Viking melodic metal)
  • Mustache (Swedish metal, not new. Check out some of their recent live performances on YouTube during COVID)

I hope you enjoy! Stay warm out there!

I used to make fun of "Viking metal" but Amon Amarth was pretty good live. Not Slayer or Lamb of God good but no one is.

Been on a steady diet of Blaze Foley and Townes VanZandt. Both great songwriters who wore themselves out and died too young.
