Vacation is over and back to reality! Electricity to site was scheduled for today. Once installed framing will begin!

Been a unproductive start this week frame wise. Ordered material for delivery and waiting. Looks like no walls are going up until Friday or Saturday. Electricity is now on site so that's a plus!

Following. I built mine in 1999/2000 when I 25y/o. I did everything except well, septic and cabinets. Yours looks better built than mine. Good lord it was a lot of work. But it has sure paid off over the years! Since then I have built my shed and shop, too. You should be proud.

No settling yet. Under that thin layer of dirt you see is all bedrock.

Congrats. It's definitely a great feeling. Best part was being debt free. I built mine in 2009 when I was 23. Feeling the age this go around. Lol

Well today did not go as planned. I was really hoping to get 4 side walls completed and up. Had to work cattle this morning and came over here around 9 to get started. Electrical issue delayed me another 3 hrs. Finally got it all running and then had to meet with an Antler Chandelier customer. Came back around 1pm and after 10 or so shots with the nail gun it quit on me. Went to town and got a new one and then realized the nails I had didn't work with this one. Back to town I went for a 4th time today! Seemed like everything was against me. Finally got over here around 6pm with everything I needed and have the front wall ready except for headers. Maybe tomorrow after church things will go better for me.

I have help coming to raise walls tomorrow!

I'm done with this today. Back to the barn and seenif I can't make progress on some Antler orders.

Nails, studs I just spent another $1450. That should complete all exterior/interior walls.

Little more done this evening. All 4 walls up. Not sure what all will get completed this week. Wife had an emergency medical scare and we will be at the Hospital Friday for further testing. Results from Mondays test weren't good.

All goes well with her then I hope to have all walls up and top plates on. Would really like to start ceiling joist next week. Will see how it goes.

Well Doc appointment yesterday was pointless. Multiple test and nothing found causing all the pain and bleeding. Antibiotics and basically said to just take it easy. She rested all day yesterday and today. I've been over here trying to keep my mind off things. All walls are framed and I'm beat. Brother In-law had to work a second job all day today so its just me. Plan to install a couple headers this evening and top plate. Tomorrow see if I can get all OSB up!

Spent another $940 on OSB, Extra Studs, and Nails!

Brings the total to around $5200 I believe so far.

Why not put the top plate on while laying out/building the wall on the floor? I’m no framers, that’s the way I was taught to do it. Just curious.

Shouldn't. Top plates need to overlap where walls intersect. Better stability.

FYI it would save you time and effort if you put your double top plates on while the walls are on the ground. It makes it easier and safer to raise the walls and join them. Just have to allow for over lap and cut back at Tees and Corners. Obviously your way worked and I don't want to step on your toes just thought I'd suggest it help you out in the future.

Looks good man. I wasn’t saying your were doing it wrong. I was just lending my advice coming from about 17 years of framing walls. Take it or leave I was just throwing it out there.
