Getting started on another set of ground blinds. Mostly the same as my previous blinds but I will assemble them at shop and then haul and set them. I have raised the threshold on my entry door, so I can bury them a little deeper in the ground. Last set, I made as modular panels and assembled them after I dug the hole. Hauling will be a bigger chore but assembly should work better. Will be building 8 and will post as progress is made.

I'm using 3x5 foot sheets of Hardie backer board for walls. All my horizontals are 36inches with a 30degree cut on each end. 2x4 on bottom and 2x2 on top. Verticals are 2x4 studs cut 55 inches long but they have a 30 degree rip on each side, to tie the panels together with the proper angle. Everything is glued with liquid nails and staled with neumatic staples.

62.5 inches flat side to flat side and 72 inches corner to corner. Plenty of room to sit two regular sized folks. Will be working on roofs tomorrow.

Are you fiberglassing the whole thing or just the roof? If not how well does that hardie hold up being buried?

Backer board is great stuff, stuck a piece in water trough for about 10 months. Pulled it out and no damage whatsoever. Love the blinds and thread as we'll keep us posted!

Bidet not sure what you used to water proof before but sonneborn makes a product called HLM 5000 that is a below grade water proofer for below grade masonry such as concrete basements. It's a heavy black coating and would make them last forever below grade.
Check it out. Looks good |

Got sidetracked this weekend and didn't get any work done. Will get started on fiberglass roofs this week.
Jack, I didn't do any thing but paint the blinds, outside and in, with a good quality exterior paint. Black on inside and drab green outside. I don't know what is happening with paint below grade, but the hardie board should last for as long as I do. I do see a little mildew on inside, below grade, on blinds that are in lower poorly drained areas. It wipes off with a damp towel. |

Finished fiberglass roofs on 2 blinds today. Miserable work in August. They are ready for paint. Ordered windows and doors from Deer-View. Made my own doors on last batch but trying theirs, this go around.

Search his thread here:
Ground Blinds mass production https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink/top...ink_source=app I asked and he gave a spot on list, although I couldn’t find 6’ fiberglass cloth I made due with 16yds of 5’ wide cloth when I made mine. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Got two of my three loaded last night on the trailer, painting the last two roofs and I’ll be ready to head to the lease and set up probably today or tomorrow depending on this weather.

Well first season in the ground and I’m a believer in Bodey’s blinds! Had deer come within 5yds of the setups and never seemed spooked like they’d get with popups.
![]() ![]() Only thing I plan to change is move one of them to a better spot at a feed pen and maybe build a few more for the lease for next year. Definitely gonna look into deer view doors as my door building skills are lacking! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Pop-ups took months for deer to get used to and after a deer was shot they stayed away for a few days. I built octagon and can have deer back at the feeder within the hour after a shot Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk |
