Scam call from Apple 🍎

Stay aware, received a scam call from Apple( as shown on caller I'd).

Person stated that my account had been used in several countries and that account was compromised.

The man had a heavy accent (from India I believe).

When I asked him what was my email on the account he hung up.

Did a search on the net and sure enough, i found out its been done before and is a scam.

Just wanted to pass this on for awareness.

I got a barrage of those calls last week, all from different numbers. These days, if I don’t know the number I’m very careful what I say on the phone.

I’ve read to never answer “yes” to any question because they have the means to take that “yes”, (in your voice), and plug it into a bogus conversation in order to prove that you are buying something, etc. I don’t know how true that is but I’m paranoid about strange numbers to the point that I usually answer “Hola” and wait for them to start talking. If they don’t, I repeat it. If it’s not a serious call, they will usually just hang up.

If I mess up and answer one of these type calls, I just keep saying hello 4 or 5 times and then hang up.

Not from Apple ( and I have an apple computer}. I got a call from myself the other day. The guy did not sound anything like me so I hung up on myself.

I've got several. I generally try to keep them on the phone as long as I can. I once wasted 2 and a half hours with one. I literally would tell him to hold on. Put my phone in my pocket and work while he waited then I would periodically pick it back up and talk to them for a few minutes to keep their hope up.

I just wish the extended warranty calls would stop. The poor guy that bought my Acura two years ago will never have to worry about repairs since I have now signed him up for 100 years of extended warranty. LOL.

I get emails all the time that look like they are coming from Apple stating my account has been frozen until I contact them. Never have contacted them and still no issues. Lots of scammers out there.

They sent me an email saying someone had bought a game on my itunes account and if it wasn't me to follow the link.

Duh......I bit.

Called Apple and they told me to change my password.

I always give the the name Hue G Rexion.I have a recording somewhere that I had him using my full name. It was quite funny!

There's one from social security too. That one almost got me. They new my name and wanted to verify information.
Apple has a warning about this on there web page. Scammers are using apple store numbers

I got that durn Apple call on my land line yesterday. They called about every 20 minutes for 3 hours. I finally answered and told them if they call again I was gonna come gut and skin them like a hog. No more calls.

Easy way to identify email scams is expanding the email address since they have them looking legit nowadays.

Looks like they figured out masking Amazon emails now.

I've been hit with 2 more Apple emails and 4 Emails from scammers just this week.

Dude left a VM message on my work phone earlier this week. Said he was Eric Holder with Texas Workforce needing to verify my address and EIN. Came from a 682 area code. I did some digging and it turns out to be a scam.

I got a call from Social Security yesterday saying that my SSN had been used in federal crimes and was going to be terminated in 14 days.

I guess I’m about to be unpersoned.

I get emails from apple and amazon about purchases I didn't make. Fishing for passwords I guess.
When I get phone calls I have let my now 5 yr. old grandson talk to them for a while. It was funnier when he was 3.

Got charged $15 on my bank account from paypal, that didn't show up on any of my paypal records, paypal reversed it, this was last week.

I told the IRS guy to send everybody they had, cause I will never be taken alive.

Now I don't answer, it seems like if you ever answer you get a swarm of calls after.
So if you call me and I don't answer, leave a voice mail and if you are legit, I will get back to you.

If you think the caller is from India tell them that you want you low caste Pakistanis to quit calling. You will more than likely learn some new curse words in a foreign language.

Tuesday I got a call from someone in a very desperate voice (no accent by the way) claiming to be my son and that he was hurt really bad and was in the hospital. Kind of shakes you for a second since he actually did sound like one of my boys. So I proceeded to ask the person who it was and I get "It's me". I tell him that's nice but he's going to have to narrow that down a bit for me. After three rounds of this, he hung up.

I texted my boys after that asking which one was in the hospital? One said he was in a business meeting. The youngest's response was classic. "If hospital is code for 9:30 lecture, then it's me". I told them that it must have been the son I never told their mother about.

I get emails daily say my Apple account has been compromised and to login and reset. Funny thing is I don't have an Apple account.

I have been getting them from Apple and a bunch from amazon saying the same thing . I just delete them .
I have also changed my phone settings if I don’t have the number in my phone book it won’t ring sends it right to voicemail.

If you have the time I suggest to use up as much of their time and about the time they start to wise up give them a good cursing and watch them really come unhinged

I've got several emails from Apple about locked id. Deleted them. I opened up a Amazon but my computer shield blocked it as a trojan. Dam crooks, no harm done but now getting a ton of scam calls like everyone else.

Thank goodness I have an android lol. I get 2-3 calls a day from people wanting to make cash offers on my property. That replaced the extended warranty, IRS, and SS calls from last year.

If I get an email that looks legit and can/can’t see from the return email if it is or not, I don’t follow the link but login to the known website account to see if there is an issue.

I get the Apple ones all the time, just delete them. Today, I received one from Amazon. Logo was blurry, and email was poorly set up. Thank I about 2 seconds to realize it was a scam. Have t be cautious about anything any more.

I never answer calls I don't know (that is, if I see a number I don't know, I always ignore it). I know a lot of scams, so it pays to be extra careful every time you get a call. Of course, it's not right to just skip calls, so I control who calls me (namely, I check the numbers at https://www.livesupportrhino.com/, and if they are familiar to me or don't have spam in them, I call back). I think it's about time everyone had this servuis with them so they don't run the risk of being scammed. It is really important

Got one from Social Security today. I pressed 1 and got Sherman (probably Abdul). Anyway I played along in my best Forest Gump voice til he finally caught on and said f*** you and hung up!

Good thing I’m deaf, so I don’t ever answer phone calls.

But yes, I still get phone calls. And I bet most of them are scammers. So too bad for them, I just let them ring.

While on the other hand I do get plenty of emails. So don’t really check them either.

Not right to skip calls ? Last time I looked, it’s my phone and I pay the bill so I guess I’ll skip all the calls I want. Your link is probably a **** scam

Scammers keep contacting us because their thieving scamming works often enough to make them money. I believe most on TBH know what to watch out for, but not all folks are wise to how these scamming devils steal money. It could be age, lack of computer expertise, too much trust, etc. but some folks are just not prepared to deal with these internet thieves. Pass information in these posts along to those in your family, friends, neighbors, etc. who you think might be a prime victim, and you might help keep them from losing money.

Every call I get, that isn’t on my contact list, is a scam. 99% of the time I don’t answer. If it goes to voicemail, I’ll delete it. Every once in awhile I’ll answer just to screw with them. I can always get them to hang up on me but it seems like whenever I do that, the next day the volume of scam calls increases tenfold.

I usually don’t answer either. I get scammers all the time calling about this or that. Until yesterday, for whatever reason, i answered it and it was a General Contractor calling me about one of my proposals that i submitted for work. Glad I answered it. But I reckon I will have to answer more unknown numbers for that reason alone.
