Default Any swimmers in the crowd

My niece just won gold at
state in the 50 and 100 freestyle while setting pool records in both in her final high school season. Now off to UT. No, not that one. The University of Tennessee.

Awesome! Would love to know her times. Kids are way faster than when I swam in high school. I was a 500, 1650, 400IM, and 200 back swimmer

She’s fast! I used to be, my 2yo saw a picture of me at 19 when I last swam competitive and laughed saying “no, that’s not daddy” apparently I need to get back to the pool

University of Tennessee has a great program

I competed in AAU swimming year round in the early 80’s and my kids swam in HS. Swimsuit technology is insane. $300-$500 for suits that literally decrease times by unheard of numbers. There were so many world records being shattered that these suits were ruled illegal several years ago.

This performance is super human (video link below) ... Caleb Dressel winning the 50 yd freestyle by a body length with a time of 17.63 seconds

Caleb swam the 100 yd free in 39.96 seconds

Weight is the same, bf % may be a little off

I remember when guys going low 20s was fast, I don’t remember any of the girls even at state going sub 25 on 50 free. She did a great job of working her butt of to get there. Can’t imagine sub 18 that Blake posted.

The weight regiments are unreal. These girls have ripped upper bodies and her shoulders are bigger than mine.

Congrats to your niece. My wife was a swimmer and the work it takes is intense for sure.

I only won a swimming contest once In my life. Made it count though and beat all the other swimmers at conception

Big congrats to her - the amount of dedication it takes to compete at that level is off the charts. The winning times now are unbelievable! It’s a sport/activity you can do forever - I swam competitively up through high school and now at age 64 I still do a workout of 1,500-2,000 meters twice a week.

Congrats to her OP!

I swam competitively with a private club (Doug Russell Swim Club), then the Highschool. And picked it back up later in life racing triathlon.

The fish are biting, and there's hogs to be kill-t. Gotta go!

Congrats, that’s amazing! Have a 14 year old son really enjoying it and wanting to stick with it seriously for his future (for now, he is a teenager) but he is very self driven and enjoying hours in the water 6 days a week. We shall see where it goes. Congrats!

Congrats, that’s a very big accomplishment and a tremendous amount of dedication and hard work. We worked out twice a day Monday-Friday and Saturday morning. I imagine she did the same.
My brothers and I grew up swimming, my dad is a swim coach. My little brother was the fastest. He broke the state record in 200 free and got a scholarship to UT. I coached for several years while I was in college. I enjoyed it. I consider coaching again on my days off but have to many things I want to do and know you can’t be the best coach without full dedication. Maybe someday I’ll take over my pops club team.

Once again congratulations to her and hats off for continuing to swim in college.

It is amazing seeing how fast people are swimming. 17.63 is insane.

Several years ago people were layering swim suits. If I remember right they would put on a ‘Blue 70’ for some buoyancy without much bulk, then put a ‘tech suit’ on over it to reduce drag.
