    Thanks for the responses and questions. I have not been working on this in a while due to the Christmas Season lights going up. No that were are slowing down I can spend a little time on it again.


    I put it on a feeder about 10pm and as it was in the picture above. The light was still working the next night at 8pm when I took it down to go home. The battery had drained down to 7.5 volts in almost 24 hours. I used a cheap Walgreens 9 volt battery so I bet a better battery would have held up longer.

    9 Volts batteries are a pain to work with but I had to start somewhere for the testing and the LED's require about 9 volts for the light to function properly.


    Back to the testing bench!

          DYI feeder light photo type

          Here's one I'm experimenting with. It's supposedly 1000 lumens but from what I see that's a bit inflated. Throws a very wide beam and lights up nicely under the feeder area. I have about $100 in it as it sits. It has both photocell and remote control. Could shave $20 off if you ditched the remote.
