I've had good success with my shorty tripod on several hunts over the past year.
Not being satisfied, I wanted to add a folding rifle rest to it but keep it as compact as can be.
So some bent conduit, welded brackets, and some time I came up with this.
New attachments are detachable for bowhunting and only add a couple pounds to the overall weight.
It made its first trip to the cotton patch this weekend and got another kill under its belt. I'm thinking it will make a good platform to call from in some CRP patches as well.
My hunt consisted of setting next to a utility pole on a small rise that give me a good view of a 60 acre johnson grass/salt cedar patch the hogs were holding in. From the time I crawled in hogs were moving in out all evening but I was holding out for a larger boar I spotted early in the evening but wandered off before I could get a shot. His mistake was coming back about 5:00 in the
evening!
The boar weighed a solid 200# on the hoof with some nice cutters.
Also got to try a gopro video over the shoulder and drone tracking shots with some new perspectives.
