Oh man, I had both. The old neighbor lady would always pick up the phone and listen in on conversations.

Picking up the phone, that was connected to the wall-that had a rotary dial, only to find out somebody on your party line was gossiping and you had to wait for them to finish up before you could make your call!

That alarm clock sound but at least it only went off once a day. My new alarm clock has a sound of my choosing but it reminds me of stuff all day long.

Grabbing the land line phone & pulling the rotary portion off the table when brought to your ear...one of my pet peeves were folk who kept their phone cords tangled. Some were so bad they had memory & couldn't be fixed.

Getting off the couch to change between the 3 available channels & getting out of the vehicle to open the garage makes my son laugh.


I miss having the hi/low beam switch on the floor board...

We didn't have cable. We had an antenna on a tall pole. I'd have to go stand outside in the flower bed and turn it and listen to my dad yell at me from his recliner thru the window. Left, left, left, your other left. Stop! No, ****it, go back! Back! Stop! No, you missed it again. Go back the other way. The other way ****it! Stop!

And I got to go stand by the tv and turn the dial too. Click, click, click, click.

I remember when we got a tv with a remote control and a power antenna turner on the antenna pole. Shoot, happy days!

...trying to find a good station on the car radio that would last long enough to play a few songs before you were out of range... then after sundown you could get stations like WBAP in Dallas, WSM in Nashville, WWL, New Orleans or WHO, Des Moines... Might be a little static when thunderstorms come up, but you could at least listen to the same station...

I have strong memories of standing there turning the tv antenna with a pipe wrench and the 8 track player eating the tape but what i really hated was needing to put oil in the old junker only to have to use my pocket knife to open the oil can because I lost the can opener. That's the reason I still carry a 3 blade pocket knife to this day. It would always happen when i just recently sharpened the knife. I would have one blade dedicated as the can opener.
