Don't do it. I know there are employers that will not consider anyone with visible tattoos. Why cut yourself out of opportunities. Also, is the ink regulated by the FDA. If not you don't know what you are putting in your body.

I was gonna get something for Matt, but could never make up my mind, so I figured it was not to be, yet.

          1. Good ink ain't cheap. Cheap ink ain't good. Find a quality artist...it's forever
          2. No words/letters/foreign characters/people's faces
          3. Nothing I wouldn't mind showing my boss, coworkers or family
          4. Consider placement vs your day-to-day work. I have a full sleeve on my right arm, wear short sleeved shirts but I work in a relaxed environment an noone cares about tattoos. It was a consideration I made before getting it.
          5. The body is a temple...all good temples have quality art hung on the walls
          6. I usually wait a year or more when I decide I really want a piece. If I still want it after that time, I get it
This is excellent advice. All of these are important steps to consider/take when thinking about a tattoo. The only tattoo I didn't apply #6 on and did on a whim, I had to cover. Since I made that mistake I always wait and think a long time on what my next work will be.

Or maybe like my father’s EGA on one arm and one with my mother’s name on his other…..when he enlisted for “duration” for WWII
Sounds like a pretty cool old story to me

My advise is start early and don't stop if it's working out for you. I have several and they are for me and I could care less if they offend somebody. Also, if someone wouldn't hire me because of them, that is their loss.

Patek on Patek on Moser would be exceptional. That tattoo was the epitome of a man following through on his word.

Here we are again with a bunch of adults judging what other adults do with there money and lives

If you like em then get em, if you don't then worry about you and yours and not what the next man does....who really cares? Seriously? They don't bother me either way....my family hated tattoos and I ended up with seven and my wife two. We both make great money and aren't bad people. Do you and don't worry about what others do

Be careful taking life advice from a oneeye man.

But this thread is just about helping a young person out, not judging lol!

You may be limiting the places you can work at. Especially if they are on your neck, face, hands etc.

I think the people with tats have established, that it would be the employers loss if they choose to not employ the tatted applicant. At least that is the general trend of the thread. Somehow I think the guy handing out the pay checks will have the last say.
