thanks guys. he got it solved with his buddies help from school.

angle ball takes off is 57.99
      time in air is 6.32
      ball speed is 119.3

At least that is what he told me. I tried to argue that it was either bobcat or potato salad but he wouldn't listen

If he turns in an answer of ‘potato salad’ I’ll PayPal him $20.

It gives the trajectory of the ball y(height) vs x(distance). What you care about is the slope of that line, specifically at the very beginning, x = 0. To find the slope of a curved line you use derivatives. Basically how y is changing versus x as the x approaches 0, rise over run, which is the derivative. Derivative of Y = -0.004x2+1.6x is -0.008x +1.6

Now plug in x=0, the rise is 1.6. Tangent of rise over run is the angle, 57.99.

Been too long for me crunching calculus problems.
Last time I did was 2001 when I took statistical thermodynamics
                    No more I’m done

                      You need a drag coefficient!

I've never used cosine. I've seen it in dope houses but never touch the stuff

The real answer is none of the above. He slice the ball off into the weeds and took a mulligan.

I'm not sure this is a "you came to the right place" scenario! Thank the Lord I don't need to remember that garbage.
