Default An awesome gift!

I had the pleasure to get to go back to RSA in Sept for retirement hunt with African Arrow Safaris. On this hunts and stay I met a person that has become a friend. Billy Berger is a totally primitive bowhunter and was using all primitive equipment, a self bow he made and a recurve his Dad made, plus making all his own shafts and knapping all his flint heads.

I watched him shoot and work on his equipment and was amazed at his talent. He ended up taking a Blue Wildebeest, a Kudu and Nyala all with primitive equipment, the first to ever do so with AAS and Harry Nel. Billy is a big ole boy and lives in Georgia. His claim to fame is: he was on Episode 6 (I hope I am right on this), Series 1 of Naked and Afraid, so I got to hear inside stories of this show. Very interesting from his take.

On to the story of Billy and this gift.

I found a very large piece of flint in our yard and sent a picture to Billy to see if he could use it. It was probaly 1-2 pounds of flint rock. Name: IMG_0973.jpg

He said absolutley so I boxed it up and mailed it to him. When he got it, he ask for my address as he wanted to send me something.

I received a package last week from Billy and this is what was in it.Name: IMG_1049.jpg

I am beyond shocked and amazed at what he built for me. It is nothing fancy but this skinner is sharp as all get out. I told Billy I was going to skin my first deer with it and then frame it and put the letter he sent me and safe it for all times!

Thank you Billy, I will cherish this skinner and your friendship till the day I die.

Thatís awesome. Good to have talented friends. That handle is wood? I really thought it was bone/ivory like GarGuy pondered.
