Has anyone put together their own mixing of "poor mans pappy"? I have been thinking about tinkering with a mix myself.

Good choice. This is one of my favorite readily available bourbons. I always keep on on hand.

OK guys... so I've been hearing some buzz about Jim Beam Distillers Cut (not to be confused with the tons of other Jim Beam releases) that came out in late 2017. So far I hadn't seen it in my locals, but they had about 12 bottles on the shelf at Specs. It was $17.99 per bottle. HMMMM... I decided to give it a go...

Its actually really good. Not like blow your mind complex or anything, but its **** good for the price. Its for sure the best sub-20 bourbon I've purchased.

Its 50 proof, aged 5-6 years and is not cold filtered, so it leaves a lot of the stuff that most bourbons filter out. This means its a bit cloudy if you drop some ice in it, but the flavor profile makes up for it.

I don't think I've ever drank a cheap whiskey straight and liked it, but this one is different. Looks for it on the shelf, its worth 17 just to try it out.

syressful day with no updates on my job status and the merger so pour d a couple glasses of TX bourbon (not the blend). Didn’t want to waste any of the real good stuff in case I need to make some heavy drinks tomorrow or Friday

Business Development. The company that bought us doesn’t have a division like mine so it’s in a grey area right now

For Poor Man’s Pappy, I do 60% 107 and 40% 12. Let it sit for a couple months, results are great.
