The inside is very clean, no oil at the bottom or visible leaks on components or reservoirs. I wish I could see were it was originating from.

Then maybe not. I’d take the cowling off and clean everything real good and see if you can spot a leak somewhere when you tilt it. I agree that it looks like fresh oil.

Since it was rebuilt recently, why not take it back to the mechanic?

I may end up doing that. I sent the pics to them as well. Just trying to educate myself about it. If it is something I can just knock out myself it would save me the trouble of taking it in and I would learn how to fix it myself.

you could take off the cowling and the mid section. Might be able to see something you weren't able to before.

I’m going to inspect it again today. I may try that.

Found the area where the oil is coming from, just don’t know from what. It’s coming from the hole in front of the motor right below the powerhead bowl. I removed the top cover off the mid section right below the powerhead. There are no leaks coming from the powerhead, that I can see. My guess is that this oil “leak” only develops during or right after running the motor. Any thoughts?

Here you go. They are flipped sideways, turn them clockwise.

This isn’t my motor but I circled the location of the previous pic.

Ok, that's not your leak. It's just where the oil is coming out of the cowling pan. It's leaking up on your engine somewhrre

Yet the cowling pan is dry, no streaks or evidence of leaks anywhere in it or on the powerhead. It’s weird.

shove some paper towels in the bottom of the cowl and check it every hour or so. You will at least figure out what area on the motor you should be looking. There is no fuel/oil in the midsection so it is coming from somewhere on the powerhead.
