    Biscuits

Y’all have any biscuit recipes you wanna share?
I have been making these quick biscuits to have something to put medicated butter and honey on.

    This is just.
    2 cups of bluebird flower
    1 T baking powder
    1/2 t salt
    1/3 t baking soda
    1/3 cup lard
    1 cup buttermilk
Butter for cast iron and biscuit tops
Warm cast iron on stove top to medium heat.
    Warm oven to 450
All dry products to mixing bowl.
Cut lard into dry mix. (Should be crumbly when lard is cut in)
Make a well in the flour and add buttermilk
Don’t go all out wit the mixing as you don’t want to work the dough to much.
Fold the dough a dozen times.
Spread out and cut biscuits with cutter.
Melt butter into warm cast iron skillet.
Dip each side of biscuit in the warm cast iron skillet.
Once all the rolls are placed into skillet bake for 18 mins more or less. Or golden.

Enjoy hot with your choice of fillings

Am going to try this, as I have been playing with biscuit recipes for the last couple of months. I normally cut butter in them, but going to try the lard you mention and rolling the edge in the butter.

That looks really good! I have always liked Pioneer woman's recipe:

Your recipe is nearly the same as my family recipe, minus the lard. This was my great grandmother’s recipe and my grandmother made them every morning for 40 some odd years. I have extrapolated the recipe out for larger batches. I am going to experiment with lard and see how i like them. Yours look more flaky. Our biscuits are dense. One of my daughters asked for them for Christmas the other day since I haven’t made them in so long! 😊

Fyi, these make an excellent cinnamon roll base.

Thanks. My granny made these every morning with a spicy venison sausage and eggs.
I usually only make enough that the biscuit fits in the skillet.

Try using a light airy flour.

One thing I noticed is if I use a little to much lard the biscuits become more dense. I use just 1/3 cup of lard.

Lol My grandmother cooked the same minus the venison. She also cooked homemade sugar syrup every morning. When the biscuits hit the table my Pop buttered every one of them! Good memories!

About the same except we use chocolate.
