    Reptile ID

    I’m at my wife’s parents in North Fort Worth and this big boy was hanging out in the sun. I’ve seen some good size lizards but this sucker could pass for a baby gator. Ha!

                      I call them tree lizards, they can get big; like about 12" is like some I have seen.
                      they raid bird nest and eat the babies, and as long as they are sparrow nest i'm ok with it.
                      let 'em be. cool critters.

                        Spiney, common in this area. I've got several in my back yard each year. Ft. Worth area used to be loaded with various lizards when I was in grade school. They've slowly disappeared along with the horneytoad.

                              I used to have one in a mesquite that I had a tripod in. I saw him at least a third of the times I hunted that tripod, and once he crawled up my pants (on the outside thank God) and sat on my knee for awhile looking me over. I guess he finally decided I was more than a meal and went back to the limb. We also saw one occasionally at the camphouse, but he was more nervous. You couldn't approach him without him going under the porch. Neat creatures !
