Not at all true. i have a Masters from U of H, Clear Lake. I hate lawyers, all lawyers, and I don't trust the Medical Industry in regards to Covid. That's it, so your statement is basically ignorant.

I didn't take up for them. In fact, I supported you not using the bloodsuckers at all.

Just out of curiosity, what is your job or profession?

Your family will still bicker and fight and dispute the will. People get downright nasty over inheritance.

My wife and I just got ours done PLUS power of attorney paperwork for $450.

I guess I'm lucky...

sounds like you guys have had terrible experiences with lawyers.

the lawyer I used
1. drew up all the documents.
2. came by my house and reviewed them with me
3. went back to his office and finalized them
4. came back to my house and notarized them with neighbor as witness
all for $350.00

youtube junk, online free junk, facecrap free junk....don't believe it.

shop around for a good lawyer.

Can someone recommend a board certified lawyer in the Pearland 'southwest' Houston area who can do this? I think mine is a smidgen more complex than normal. Thanks.

I second everything below. You also may want to run the draft past your accountant before the final is signed. A lawyer, who specializes in estate planning, should be able to navigate this well but you would be surprised what gets overlooked and your accountant will be in a better position to head off any potential issues as he/she is better acquainted with your current financial situation. Another pro tip is to create an inventory of all of your assets you shouldn't need to worry about having anything appraised as your beneficiary will receive a step up in basis to any property and/or stock you own.

All 4 can be done by a lawyer for around $350 to $500...depending.

Trust me...all these needed because god forbid something happens and none of these are done...its a nightmare for those trying to figure out estate, monies, burial, on and on.

Don't believe the youtube or free stuff online...just pay for a lawyer who does this for a living.
