    Mesquite / cactus removal

We have 70 acres in southern Coleman county we have some areas that are almost in accessible due to prickly pear and tasajillo cactus. Also have some mesquite that needs to be thinned in some areas I would like to open up for the potential of a small food plot.

What are the better methods for removal be it chemical or mechanical. Any equipment would need to be rented as I don’t have a tractor or skid steer

Rent a D3 dozer for a week and keep it running from daylight til dark.
Or buy some herbicide and hand spray
Buy a spray rig to put in the back of a Jeep or truck or uTV with two spray guns and a keg of beer in the back.
Hire a plane to spray in the spring. I think the plane will be expensive but most effective.

I would spray it as mentioned above.

Mechanical for the mesquite - same as above, rent the dozer.

For the tasajilla, prickly pear and some of the white brush, hit up http://www.chem-air.com/ . Best move I ever did.
