    Hat versus cap question

I grew up calling a "hat" a cap, like a "baseball" cap.
We wore cowboy "hats" not cowboy "caps".
I've had discussions with my sons about what's what and they give me a hard time how I use cap instead of hat.
I still call a baseball cap a cap and not a hat.
May be an age related thing.
So, which is it? What does the green screen call them?

I call it the same thing.

    Also...not hats or caps inside.

      A hat is a hat.

All caps are hats, but not all hats are caps!

If it is worn on the head, it is called a hat at my house. But I really don't worry about if someone else calls it a hat, cap or bonnet. Lots better things to worry about.

            A Hat has a Brim.
A Cap has a Bill. (or nothing at all like a Stocking Cap / Beanie)

If it looks like what baseball players wear, its a ball cap. Everything else is a hat.

We call them all hats, but I believe it's more correct the way you describe it. Except if they have a flat bill, then it's a dunce cap.

If the brim goes all the way around, it's a hat. If the brim is just in the front (or in the back for a deusch or on the side for a rapper), it's a cap.

I call them the same as you.

Hat is anything that is worn on your head, and a cap is a type of hat.

Straw after Easter, Felt after Labor Day (unless you’re in the southern half of our State, then it’s Veterans Day.)

What if you wear said hat for each and every day for 8 years straight? Asking for a friend.
