Congrats! What a feeling that must have been. I left one 6 inches short from 188 yards. By far the closest I've come. Maybe one of these days!

Congratulations! They don't come around very often for us amateurs. I know a guy that I never considered to be a really good golfer, who had two within a 30 day period and missed another in that same 30 day window that I don't know how it stayed out of the hole. Enjoy the moment!

Congrats! doesn't happen very often.

Been lucky and have had 5 so far. One was in a skins game with 16 players. Had to take out a loan for the "after the round beer sales".

My only one came in a skins game also. Had been working 6 days one week and 7 the next at 12 hrs a day for a couple of months in 2007. First day back, I joined the skins crowd about 5 holes in. My very first shot of the year was a 300 yard, par 4 hole in one. Like Hoghunter below, it was over a rise and couldn't see it happen. I looked and looked for my ball and decided I was "out" on this hole. Then someone was putting and another person yanked the stick and my ball popped out!!!!! The winnings ALMOST paid for the beer.
That 300 yards; the fairways are concrete hard so take that for what it's worth.

Nice. I did something similar back in the 80's for my first eagle on a par 5. Sunk an 8 iron to an elevated green at 145. I never thought to look in the hole. I sure do remember the feeling when I did.
