Default I’m going back to Cali—Again!

I’m sitting in the airport waiting on my flight out to Oakland. Will be hunting Roosevelt elk in Northern California. Hunt is with arrow 5 outfitted and the same folks I killed my Columbia blacktail with. I’m fairly unprepared and have almost ruined the trip a couple times already. Here we go!!!!!!

I worked all night Wednesday followed by clinic, a freshman football game and office meeting Thursday. Got up at 4 am today for my 6 am flight. Got to airport and I forgot my wallet! My wife ran back to get it and I missed the flight by 1 minute. Just bought a new ticket on American but my bags went southwest. Hope that works!!!!

Labor Day weekend I was down at the lease in mason. Jumped off a 6 foot tower and landed awkwardly. Screwed my ankle up pretty bad and even have a little piece of bone floating around. Been in a brace for two weeks. Going to have to lace them up tight and suck it up!

This is just a tactic to trick the elk and PETA-types who read this site and warn the animals. I've had to stop telling friends about my pig hunting plans as the pigs have hacked both my e-mail and my phone and never show when I go for a sit.

Much luck, Doc.

Sounds like a great trip you've got planned. Hope the ankle holds up!

Quick Q: You got any info off the top of your head regarding your breadhead storage boxes? Been looking for something a little better than my current setup consisting of blades bouncing around a modified tackle box.

Look forward to following along...

Those are the broadhead cases from iron will and they are made by skb. They are awesome but the aren’t “universal” fit. I have iron wills and vipertricks in mine.

Yeah they looked like they fit very snugly. Hence, my question. A quick google provided some viable options. Thanks.

Safe travels.

This is gonna be a sweet hunt for sure. I feel like a Rosie tag in Cali would be more fun than Oregon. The stuff the born and raised guys hunt just doesn’t look fun lol

You can draw an elk tag in California but it’s almost impossible. My tag is private land from a big timber company. I believe arrow 5 has all the Roosevelt tags from this block. It is supposed to be much different from hunting Rosie’s in Oregon or Washington. Minimal pressure in the elk and consistently high quality bulls.

I have witnessed a miracle! I went ahead and checked my bags in at southwest this am thinking I might make the flight. The counter folks said my bags would go on my original flight whether I was on it or not. Well, I missed the flight and had to go on American. I was terrified my bags would not arrive. I got to Oakland and there was a a beautiful sight in the roped off area by the carousels. A brown duffel and my bow case!!!!! Praise baby Jesus!
