Between this and 93L, its a race to see who becomes Helene, and then the Dreaded "I" storm, Isaac.

I read this morning, if Florence impacts the US it will be the first time in recorded history a storm in that position does so. Meteorology is pretty cool, more stats than baseball I think.

I hope 92L gets knock down, some of the runs have it curling to the north.

My Angie flew to NC to try and get her momma out of Ocean Isle Beach where she lives. Gonna drive her up to Raleigh to her brother's and then try to fly back to DFW Wednesday since she has State Guard drill next weekend. Tracking models show the eye passing over Wilmington Friday am. Ocean Isle Beach is 30 miles south so her momma's place gonna get hit with a wall of water. Her house is 1/4 mile inland from the ocean front beach just across the intercoastal waterway. The race is on to get things buttoned down up there.

Tropics are crazy busy right now! Need to keep an eye on the wave in the Western Caribbean as euro is spinning up a weak disturbance near South Texas coast late this week.
Florence looks really bad for NC at the moment. Similar to what we saw last year, the models show Florence stalling out and meandering(to different degrees) and dumping some huge rain totals. Surge could be really bad too if it ramps up as much as NHC projects. Been a interesting storm to track, as it has yet to start moving with a Northerly component again as it's been tracking W/SW of forecast points.. If it doesnt start gaining some latitude quickly that could start nudging the cone further south.
Then there is Isaac..The "I" storms always worry me. There is a lot of time to see what he may do.

This came off the net this morning:

All eyes are focused on Hurricane Florence as we begin the new week and chances for a major impact on the US east coast continue to grow. Florence is now churning slowly towards the US east coast as a category 2 hurricane and may make a landfall late Thursday or early Friday somewhere along the Carolina coastline – likely with “major” hurricane status. Very strong high pressure ridging is now building at upper levels of the atmosphere across southeastern Canada and the northwestern Atlantic and this will be a key player in the push of Florence towards the east coast over the next few days. In addition, this very strong high pressure ridge will eventually act as an “atmospheric brick wall” for Florence once it reaches the east coast and the brakes will be put on any attempt at a northward advance by the storm. This eventual slow down in the northward advance of Florence will allow for an extended period of heavy rainfall and the result could be tremendous rainfall amounts in the Carolinas and much of the Mid-Atlantic region.

Florence is bombing out right now. Cat 4 by what recon is finding flying the storm right now. Pressure down to 947mb, 115 knot winds.. Should be a special advisory out soon from NHC. The way it looks right now reminds me a lot of Harvey.

Nightmare situation unfolding for East Coast.

With pressure that low and such a defined eye wall, i wouldnt be surprised if it is much stronger than that right now. Monster storm building.

We currently have a low along the Texas coast dumping lots of rain from Houston to Brownsville in already saturated areas. On top of that we very well could see a tropical storm impact the Texas coast on Fri/Sat. Everyone needs to be on alert for potential flooding.

Add to that the current path that Isaac is on could very well take it into the GOM and impact the Texas coast.

Newly tagged Invest 95L is the system we will have to watch here on the TX coast late this week. Not a whole lot of model support at this time for much development but we could see a depression/Tropical Storm out of this. With the shear currently in place(forecast to relax later this week) i would guess if something does "develop", it will be close to the coast. Lots of rain possible this week. Just my thoughts.. Stay plugged into official weather sources!

In the mean time.. Look at Florence

Looking at the conditions ahead of her, I think she will make history. reporting may still be behind on wind speed right now. She is like an ice skater swinging her arms out to build up energy before drawing them in to increase velocity of spin. Also, if she keeps bumping slightly south of West, we may see that landfall cone drop down significantly.

Yes, as ccb pointed out, all eyes on 95L along the Texas coast. Early forecast thinking weak tropical storm coming ashore along the lower to middle Texas coast bringing a ton of rain with it.

The craze is real. I live between Aransas Pass and Rockport. Do not underestimate this storm. Get as many supplies as you an now, and get double what you think. If you don't have a generator, find one. If power goes out, we went without power for 6 weeks. If you buy a generator, get one that runs off gas and propane so you have options. Be ready to only have AC at night. At least it is a cooler part of the year. We were recovering in Aug with temps in the high 90's, humidity around 95%, and mosquitoes from Jurassic park.

Make sure you have all important paperwork, insurance accounts, and pictures ready to go now. We lots so many pictures, because like so many times before we assumed it was a hurrication and we were coming home to a house.

Document everything!! Go through the house and get pictures and video of every item you can including serial numbers. Insurance will want proof of what you have. Don't leave any vehicles home. Just cause it goes through a hurriacane doesn't mean that insurance will total it. I have $500 into fixing my transmission for parts and I did the labor replacing all the solenoids myself. Had an insurance claim that cost me $250 to have the car painted which cost insurance $3500. Take your pets. We have rabbits, chickens, and goats we couldn't take. I have no idea how they made it through but they all did.

Most importantly is take care of you and your family. Hug them tight and remember things are material and can be rebuilt. I will say this past year has been the hardest thing I have ever had to do and I had it good compared to others.

Lastly, if you take a direct hit from the hurricane, the pictures you see in the news and online will not help any for what you will see when you pull back into town. I had seen the pictures from friends and what was on the news, but when you pull back into town and the whole town is damaged nothing can prepare you. I am not an emotional person, but still get watery eyed and choked up when I think back to those days and weeks following Aug 25th 2017. I can't always remember my kids birthdays, and catch it from my wife because of it, but I remember Harveys Bday every time. Thats how life changing a hurricane can be.
