Default Alcohol Free February

Going to give up alcohol for the month of February. No more Woodford, Blantons, or Col. EH Taylor for 28 days. Hopefully I値l see some benefits from my four weeks without an adult beverage....Reduce weight, sleep better and more energy....???

Anyone else taken a month off from alcohol?

Cheers

Yesterday I just had my first sip of alcohol since 2018. Lost 12lbs and generally felt better all around.

I知 on day 17 with no alcohol. I知 doing it for weight loss, detox (after a great deer season), and just to see if I actually can.
30 days is the goal, but I値l be honest I want a drink.

That痴 pretty impressive. I should take a sip and see if I lose 12 lb too. The feeling better part is a given.

I did that last year. Entire month of Feb and I walked away having gained weight

Couple of my favorite bars brought in topo chico for the month and I'd still go out just drink topo.

I did two weeks. Last month. It felt great. And yes, after deer season also. Deer season seems to bring lots of alcohol haha. As well as the holidays.

I'm starting over. Went about 2 weeks and then last night we had shrimp creole and I wanted wine with it. I did limit to one glass and I'm doing it to lose weight.

That Topo is some good stuff. Started drinking it with the lemon last year and now I keep it stocked. It痴 the only way I drink enough water.

I didn't have any in January and probably won't until Presidents Day. I am still about 2# over my goal weight so I figured it would help with the weight loss.

I did a couple of years ago. I took it to the extreme though, cause I haven't had a drink since. Feel much better now and don't miss alcohol one bit.

I'll toast you a good luck on accomplishing your challenge.

.......well yes, how else are you going to loose weight.

Doctor put me on some meds a few years ago and it STOPPED all alcohol consumption. Never drank much anyway, couple of cases of beer and a bottle of Scotch was my annual consumption. And then there were the frozen margaritas when I ate good sit down mexican food, as a safety net I also gave up sit down mexican food.

Good luck, I’ve done the “whole 30” cleanse two different times and it works great to your body back on track. No alcohol with this as well. You’ll definitely loose weight and feel better.
Not drinking alcohol always saves money and a bit safer driving home...

I used to take 6 weeks of Lent off from drinking in my thirties and forties. It was a bit of an eye opener to see how physically dependent I had become and how it impacted my health.

It had become my “mojo” and I didn’t like myself as much after a long weekend of imbibing.

In October of 2015 I quit completely. No regrets. At age 62 it was time. I’m 65 now and love that my grandkids have never seen me drink. Not judging others, just my story.

It got me to stop drinking cokes a few years ago when I discovered it.

I get the fizziness of the drink but I'm drinking water instead.

I started some meds back in Oct. that I'm supposed to limit alcohol intake while taking. I'll be off of it in early March. I also filled in at work in a position which required that I be on call for 7 days at a time every 5th week. Did that for almost three months. Needless to say I've cut back a lot since this past September. Going 7 days without a drink really showed me how boring life really is without alcohol, lol. Honestly, it was good to see that I could do it without much effort. I can't really say I feel any different, but not feeling groggy or sluggish in the morning is nice. I still enjoy drinking a couple of beers or having a couple nips of scotch a couple times a week. I applaud you guys for giving it up for a month, I just have no desire to do so. I'm not advocating for drinking every day, but I'm not giving up my handful of drinks every week when the mood strikes me.

Several years ago while trying to get my blood sugar down, I found out a couple of beers would take 2 or 3 days to get sugar back under control. It was wintertime which I didnt drink much beer in anyway. After I cut that way back I would only drink bourbon, and it didn't effect my sugar that much, unless I drank a lot. Mostly I only have one drink, maybe two, a couple of times a month, and rarely when not at home. Just thinking, I have not had a drink since Christmas, maybe have one tonight. I don't even consider myself a drinker anymore.
