Not quite February but I’ve gone without alcohol for Lent the last few years and definitely recommend it. I tend to drink more when I’m tired, and alcohol makes for a worse nights sleep, so I get out of that vicious cycle in addition to the other benefits.

Shortest month of the year... well, duh. Had a friend that used to quit drinking every February for exactly this reason. Just wanted to prove he wasn't an alcoholic. LOL.

Man I have cut waaay back across the board....been that way for about 5-6 years. Hunting season is definitely my peak but that peak is an anthill compared to many folks.

I love to drink....I just don't do it much anymore. Just don't think about doing it as much as I used to around the house.

Dove season (a couple during max and then afterwards around the fire or camp, of course), in the evening after deer hunting at the lease, family get togethers with my Dad and brothers and maybe when the wife and I go out to eat. Rarely happens around the house these days though. One thing that does get me drinking beer is building things out of wood, like deer blinds, quadpods or a deck etc..

I stopped drinking for 3 months last January...didnít drink beer from January until June. I was working hard in the gym and CrossFit stuff. Iíll probably stop drinking beer for a month or 2 again because it makes losing weight so much easier.

Cool.

I've cut way back. College football season I tend to drink more on Saturday. Lol.

I'm still a 2-4 drinks an evening guy.

Just started month 3 of no drinking a few days ago.

Cut out alcohol and started Intermittent Fasting back in November. The pounds have been falling off.

Late November I ended up with a bad blood clot in my right leg. The doctor put me on blood thinners and did all the lab work for a physical. He commented that I had gone downhill a bit, since I retired three years earlier. December 14th we had two X-Mas parties to go to at friends. I ate everything I wanted, lots of deserts, and drank a bunch. Just the typical routine I had let myself get into.

The next day, I gave up alcoholic drinks, sodas and tonic, sweet coffee creamer, and cut my carbs in half. I am now down 28#, feel and sleep much better, and have the energy to get back on the elliptical trainer. Surprisingly enough, I don't miss it at all.

Careful with that. If you have 3 drinks/beers everyday that's 21. If you have a 12 pack on Friday and Saturday that's 24. Do it again Sunday and it's 36.

Been free of Alcohol free since first weekend in January. Last trip to deer camp and only had a couple of beers. Don't drink much anymore anyways with diabetes and really trying to watch the A1C with ankle surgery coming up in a couple of weeks. Really don't miss it and could take it or leave it.

Thanks Brotha- God has completely removed the desire to drink and shown me the benefits. I cant imagine back-sliding. Thankfully, I was never out of control, just realized one day that 99% of my regrets in my life happened when I was drinking....why did I want to keep that up?

That's great OP. I gave up drinking alcohol in October of 2010 and it was a good thing. I gave up sodas and other sugary drinks about 3-4 years ago and noticed a huge difference in my health.

Thatís what He did for me! In an instant where I cried out to Him for help, he removed all taste for it from my mouth. An experience Iíll never forget, nor be able to adequately explain.

Dry January has become a tradition-- I like it.
Went to dinner with friends on the 2nd and had a couple of glasses of wine and didn't enjoy how it made me feel. I was getting over being sick though, so I'll have to try again!
