    Red-bellied woodpeckers

Wooden power poles along our road were recently replaced by newer fiberglass/steel/composite or whatever the new material is. The pole directly across from my driveway had a hole at the very top and I discovered some time ago that when the pole was replaced, the woodpeckers living in it were displaced. I guess they didn't go far and they know where the food is. They have been regular visitors for the past couple of weeks. The bright red on the belly and around the beak is part of breed plumage.

Thank you! I like that one too. Taken with a different camera and lens than the others.
