I wouldn’t wish Lyme on my worst enemy. My mom started feeling terrible about 5 years ago. No recent tick bites, fever rash, any of the “usual” symptoms. It took over 2 years to finally get diagnosed. I bet we went to the ER 50+ Times and of course after going that many times the dr’s think you’re just crazy and want to feed you Xanax or some other crap for anxiety. It got to the point where I had no idea what to do, I knew the ER wouldn’t be much help, but when she’s having seizures, facial paralysis, collapsing while walking, chest pains, all sorts of other symptoms I had to take her somewhere because her primary care doctor hadn’t been much help.

Finally after my grandpa made a huge donation to Scott and White we got her into the executive health division there in Temple. They ran every possible test they could think of, ruling out any cancer or MS or anything else. They said according to the tests she was in perfect health.

I had mentioned running a test for Lyme multiple times, but they always told me there’s no way she had Lyme, there’s no Lyme disease in Texas (yeah right) and that they had done everything they could. I finally had enough of all the BS we had gone through and demanded the Dr just run a simple blood test for Lyme. Sure enough a few days later we get a call that it came back positive.

They of course didn’t know much about the treatment and all the other infections that usually coincide with Lyme so they prescribed the standard 30 days of doxycycline.

Long story short that didn’t work, she just kept getting worse. We started going to a Lyme specialist here in north Texas who was very knowledgeable, but still didn’t provide any improvement. That went on for about 2 more years, at this point she went from being about 160 lbs to less than a hundred. Nothing but skin and bones.

I had been researching a ton about Lyme during all this and got an appointment with Dr Jemsek in Washington DC who is supposed to be one of the nations top Lyme specialists.

At this point she’s so weak I had to push her through the airports and to the clinic in a wheelchair. He put in a PIC line and started her on IV antibiotic treatments and fluid flushes, which I had to continue everyday of the week from home. Needless to say, after a year of that she was even worse off than ever. She literally looked like she was going to die at anytime, and no one knew what to do.

Finally I had heard about a dr at a clinic in San Angelo named Dr Steve Hines of Hope Wellness Center. His treatments aren’t fda approved so he takes his patients to Acuna Mexico.

We got booked into there and started that process and immediately she started getting better.

Here we are now over a year later and she’s totally back to normal, gained all her weight back, and feels great. As we speak she’s out at my ranch fishing one of the lakes. Pretty sure she’s caught every fish on the ranch haha!

Sorry for the long read, but I dealt with this for over 5 years of my life and I know 99% of doctors around here CANNOT treat this disease effectively. So if our story can help anyone at all I want to do everything I can to keep other people from going through that nightmare. I can’t recommend Dr Hines enough, he saved my moms life. If anyone has any questions feel free to PM me, I know I’m not an expert, but I’ve dealt with it a long time and can help point you in the right direction.
What did they do different in Mexico that cured it?

Most won't even test for it. Scares me to death every time I find one on me knowing what my MIL deals with on a daily basis.

Sorry to hear you had a case of that. My Dad was diagnosed only a few days after finding a tick on him. He had not sprayed his arms.....he was wearing a long-sleeve shirt but...Doctor put him on ten days worth of Antibiotics. This happened maybe two months ago. We were out filling a feeder and moving a tripod. I am all for scent free but not at the expense of getting Lymes Disease. I spray down very well, especially after my Dad was diagnosed. He is all good though.

I bought the Sawyers concentrate off Amazon that came with the bottle of concentrate and a squirt bottle to mix it in... followed the mixing directions on the bottle... so far it has been 100% effective since I started using it... Our new place in South Texas was BAD this year for ticks AND chiggers (redbugs)... We got ate up first time out... Not a single one since I started to treat my clothes/boots/shoes.
awesome thanks. I've got an order processing w amazon now. These stories are making my skin crawl.

Yes and probably longer than that. High doses of medication daily and probably suffer from it the rest of her life. Took 3 yrs to diagnose her. She remembers a tic with red ring back in the 80s. Never thought anything about it. 2009 she suffered from major headaches and very weak. Couldn't get out of bed some days. Visited with multiple doctors, many trips to ER and nobody ever had an answer. Finally met with a Dr in Houston and she suggested being tested for Lyme.

It's crazy and I sometimes wonder if maybe she just battles with symptoms that she is now used to. If you look it up most cases don't last that long. I believe the bite from the 80s isnt the cause but I could be wrong. Even stage 3 can last a few months but yeah 9 yrs is loooooonnnngggg and hard to believe. I see her daily and live on the same ranch 200 yds from her. If I go a week without seeing her it's sad how much she ages in such a short time. Some days she is great and active, other days she can't get out of bed to even see the grandkids but she stays positive and does her best.

Suffering from something else maybe? Very well could be.

I bought the concentrate at Tractor Supply and I believe I mixed it in a 10% solution.

It ahs been stated more than once, but I am going to restate it again. Do not mess with a tick bite and if you are diagnosed with Lyme, get treatment ASAP and the strongest they can do. DO NOT MESS WITH THIS DISEASE! IT IS A KILLER if left untreated or not treated aggressively enough.

Day 5 after antibiotic treatment start and the first day I feel like myself. Still a bit cloady in the head, but the other symptoms seem to have subsided.

It felt like I was never gonna get better, which is a real possibility with this tick bug. Thanks to all for there prayers and well wishes. So if you start to feel bad after getting / finding a tick bit, get it taken care of.

Yes I ended up with lymes around 4/5 years back , it started with a real large lump with dark bruising around it on the back of my leg and I felt like I'd got the flu . Luckily it was diagnosed in time and I was given antibiotics. If your anything like me it will take a year or more to feel back to normal. I was recommended to use permethrin on my clothes, you guys reading this thread who haven't come across lymes/ ticks I would say be proactive and treat your clothes
