Wondering how old this buck is

I’m curious on how old this buck is. I have 3 years of history with him. I can’t tell if he’s getting to the age of blowing up or if he’s the best he will be. He looks close to what he did last year.

    Last year

I see a mature deer that is expressing most of his potential. He could be hurting some from the drought, but his body condition doesnt show it.

I see 3, 4 at the most. Long face, long legs. He is fat and healthy.

He’s definitely older than 3. This is him 2 years ago.

His face screams mature to me. His eyes look lazy, and he is loosing hair around them. Also has loose skin under his chin.

If you are able, let him go to see what he can do. To me that is a 5-6 year old buck. We are letting our deer get to 7-8 yrs old before we target them. So far it has worked. Good luck.

If he gets you excited then sling one at him.

I don’t believe in shooting less than old deer normally, but I think has done most of what he will do. Big mature 8. Good luck.

From my experience a straight 8 like him that is older will in most cases not change much - he is an 8 and most likely will remain an 8 for life
