Many years ago in the Houston area several of the local archery shops and archery clubs formed teams and held a team league.
There was a huge traveling trophy that went to the winners shop/club for display for a year. The growing interest in the sport of archery has made me think it is time to try again to get the archery shops in the Houston area together to have a friendly competition.
I have spoken to several shops who have expressed an interest, so I would like to put out some ideas for discussion.
Each pro shop has a customer base from which to pick team members. Anyone you choose is eligible to shoot for your team.
The shop owner would be the manager/coach and decide who is on his/her team.
Each team will consist of 4-5 shooters (we will need to specify classes, i.e. Open, Bowhunter Release, Bowhunter Barebow (no sights), etc.).
Teams would be fluid (shops would field the same number of shooters in the same classes each month, but the actual shooters could change from month to month depending on who is shooting well or who is available).
LSBA AND TFAA classifications would be used.
Teams would receive points for wins, losses and ties. The team with the most points at the end of the season holds the trophy and bragging rights for the next year.
Salt Grass Archery Club will host the outdoor shoots and the shops would each have one indoor shoot per season.
Shoots will be 3-D shoots. OUTDOORS
Shoots would be held monthly.
THE NUMBER OF INDOOR "5 spot" SHOOT'S WILL DEPEND ON HOW MANY SHOPS with indor ranges want to join.
This competition would generate another level of competition within each shop, as the manager/coach can switch out team members at any time.
(except during the shoot itself), as often as he chooses.
This would encourage customers to spend more time at your indoor range practicing and proving his or her value to your team.
As I said, this is an idea I have had for a while and I want to know what you think.
I WILL COME BACK ON THIS>>>------>Robin
