    Hard to pass this one

So, after having a few pictures of this guy coming in I got to watch him in person over the weekend. Man was it hard to pass on him. I’ve wanted a big 5x5 for a long time and he fits the bill BUT I don’t believe he’s old enough yet. Still, it was so hard to pass on him.

The real question is can you shoot him from 170 yards away out of the bed of the truck?

He looks cool. I look forward to some LDP 12months from now.

LOL well, yes. But on THAT particular ranch no, cause the cedar is too thick ; )

He will live and keep his liver and kidneys til next year unless the neighbors kill him. Hahaha!!

How old does he have to be? Imo he will improve next year.

I don’t have a specific age, just as mature as I can get him. I’d like to see more of a saggy brisket, more potbelly, more withers and darker knees where he lays down. That’s sort of how I judge them. I like to say “older than 6” but if the antlers start loosing mass, like hill country bucks tend to do, then I take them accordingly.

Looks like a 4-5 year old. Hopefully he blows up next year. Got potential to be a solid deer for sure

Here’s the big 8 I’m growing. Watched him all season last year and had him come right back this season. Gained several inches in tine length and some mass. Absolutely beautiful buck.
