I’m looking for an elk hunt here in TX that Mrs. Running Bear can join on and be VERY COMFORTABLE. This is a MUST. Canned hunt is fine, and non-trophy bull is fine too. Considering Texas Hunt Lodge but also looking for other suggestions. Wants to spend in the 5K-7k range if possible. Any places maybe in West Texas?

All the elk outfitters in West Texas usually start around 10K. There are some monsters being taken out here.

I might be able to pull a few more dollars together. What would your west Texas recommendations be?

If you do a search for Ranch Elk hunts Texas, Oklahoma, Minnesota or Wisconsin you will find several under $4000 & depending on your wants $3000 for a Bull. Cow hunts are less. My son did a Red Deer Cow bowhunt for $800 a couple years ago in Wisconsin. I did a Red Deer (Texas) no size limit on bull for $800 long time ago on a day lease (no longer in business). Some great places at a reasonable price if you search. "Always" check their reviews.

There’s a place in Dripping Springs Long Horn river Ranch they have a website. It’s a really nice place I went several years ago and killed about a 900 lb bull with a cull set of horns 4x6 I think it was 1800 but that was 8 or nine years ago.It wasant a canned hunt but it also wasn’t anything to brag about.Lots of animals great guides and an absolutely beautiful place.

Like RdBear posted. Texas has several places like this if you do a little internet searching. Good Luck.

My buddies out at Valiant Ranch should be able to accommodate you in that price range, also doesn't look like they are too far from you.

Ox Ranch has big bulls at $8,500. It is a pretty incredible place. I would at least to see if they have a management bull for a bit lower. They don't even advertise for under 331" which is a big bull! They might have a 270-300" they would sell you for less.
Recordbuck Ranch has them for $6,500 up to 330". I think both are pretty top notch and your wife would probably really enjoy either. |
